As for this fight, I do see Machida coming out on top. Although, I did HATE the extensive "running away" from Tito when he knew he had it in points. Backing up and countering like Bisping is one thing but backing up to run out the timer when you're ahead is another. I personally don't like Machida as a fighter but there's no disputing his talent and I do see him winning this one barely.
Bonnar is crap, BJ is 155lbs ffs! And Rich can fight at middleweight. He's beat no one of significance in the UFC.

The only big fights he ever got before his title shot were Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. But I agree that Rashad is not popular.

I guess I kinda feel like Rashad and Lyoto are similar in the sense that they were both fighting uphill battles for title shots. Neither were fan faverites, neither had much marketing behind them, but they refused to be ignored by, well, winning fights.

We don't really need to split hairs about deserving title shots in the UFC. Would Jackson have gotten his shot so quickly had he not already beaten Chuck? BJ Penn (no explanation needed).

I am not trying to preach that it is a horrible injustice to Machida, just pointing out my personal opinion about his skill level. I think he would beat anyone in the division, and, had the UFC wanted to market him as the next big thing and given him bigger fights, would have already won the belt. All I am saying is, they could have made it happen if they wanted to, but they didn't. Why? Because he isn't popular so I don't blame them. Business comes first.

All I am saying is that it isn't his fault he hasn't fought big names.

I think Rampage could of because Chuck just got done beating Tito and Babalu in rematches and there was really nobody else at that point.

Ya that is true. But the way the division is these days it seems getting a title shot is very subjective in terms of how many opponents you must face and how highly ranked those opponents are.

These are good enough odds to put points on Silva, Machida will probably take it though.

The Penn, Franklin, and Bonnar fights were outside of the UFC you don't get rewarded for your fights outside of the UFC.

Sokoudjou is really overrated.
Oh ok, I didn't get that that's what you meant, that he hadn't beaten anyone of note in the UFC gotcha. As for the caliber of the fighters I think Sokoudjou could get a lot better depending on his attitude toward training, etc. b/c he definitely has some raw talent. I can't stand BJ Penn either, I was just saying Machida has had the experience as far as stepping in with some top guys.
