UFC 117: Junior Dos Santos vs Roy Nelson

Don't believe it. He didn't say anything of the sort in his interview with Ariel Helwani and that was taken yesterday, so everything looks good to go.

Better be. This fight is too awesome to be cancelled/postponed.

1000 credits on Roy. Gotta start somewhere.

I've bet JDS and picked him in the championship league- but damn I just can't shake the feeling that Roy is going to win this. It's those weird gut feelings but it keeps coming back that Big Belly is going to shock everyone and set a potential Beast(if Brock gets past Cain) vs. Belly title fight.


I'm cool if I'm wrong since I've bet JDS and for the league but it's just one of those things. :dunno:

I'm not too worried about this fight. JDS isn't going to let Roy get comfortable or find his range. This ain't no Schaub or Struve he's dealing with here. There are no guarantee's in MMA, but i'm about 95% sure that JDS is going to pummel Roy in the 1st round. I can't wait to watch it

Junior by DEC against unstoppable Nelson:

Round 1 - Referee Marcos Rosales in the cage for the night's first pay-per-view bout. Nelson takes the center early. He cuts the cage off, and ducks under a massive Dos Santos combo. Nelson covering up well early. Nelson eats a shot and pushes in for the takedown. Clinch against the cage. Nelson has a bodylock and keeps it tight as they walk to the opposite side of the cage. Dos Santos breaks free and lands a knee to the head as Nelson backs away. Dos Santos jabs, and an uppercut wobbles Nelson. Dos Santos tees off. Nelson tries for the takedown but can't get it. Great geart from Nelson. Dos Santos tees off with right, but Nelson won't stop. Halfway in. Dos Santos lands a left hand then punches the body Nelson eats an uppercut and staggers back and falls. Dos Santos rushes in. Nelson tries to grab a leg. Nelson back to his feet. Unbelievable courage and the building is rocking. Low kick from Dos Santos. Overhand right lands as Nelson tries to move in. Dos Santos patient. Nelson moves into a knee but lands an overhand right. Dos Santos continues to score, but Nelson continues to push forward. Dos Santos working the body a little. Dos Santos lands a right, and Nelson somehow survived until the bell. It's 10-8 Dos Santos on the MMAjunkie.com card, but it sure was entertaining.

Round 2 - Crowd electric to open the second. Nelson with his hands high and looks relatively OK. Dos Santos lands a leaping knee. Nelson fires off big punches and shoots in, but Dos Santos remains upright. Dos Santos moving around looking for options. Nelson throwing lefts that largely miss. Jabs land for Dos Santos. Nelson misses a massive overhand right. Dos Santos lands his own right. Dos Santos slowing dow with his attack. Three punches to Nelson's body. Two minutes in. All heart by Nelson. Nelson shoots a double, but Dos Santos is up to the challenge. Nelson keeps the bodylock and tries desperately for a takedown, but the Brazilian keeps his balance. Nelson drops for a single, but he's unsuccessful. Dos Santos lands an uppercut. He's picking Nelson apart on the feet. Nelson visibly exhausted. One minute left. Dos Santos' right cheek is marked up. Dos Santos lands another combo. Nelson breathing heavy, but he's moving forward. Nelson misses a homerun shot. Dos Santos just short on a big right. Nelson shoots in, but Dos Santos plays matador and pushes him aside. Round ends, and it's 10-9 Dos Santos on the MMAjunkie.com card.

Round 3 - Somehow we've reached the third round. Unbelievable, and crowd loves it. Dos Santos lively with his jab. Kick to the body. Nelson lands a right hand, but it only serves to fire Dos Santos up. Combinations land for Dos Santos, then a front kick to the face. Dos Santos with a snapping uppercut. Slower pace. Dos Santos shoots in for a single leg and Nelson hits the deck but pops back up. Dos Santos backs away and resets on the feet. Nelson keeping his guard up, but Dos Santos working in uppercuts. Nelson lands a few punches, but Dos Santos is unfazed. Halfway in. Nelson misses a right and nearly falls over. He's done, but he's not quitting. Low kick from Nelson. OVerhand right, though Dos Santos answers with an uppercut. Dos Santos still swinging. It's slower, and he lacks the power from the first round, but he's staying busy. Knee for Dos Santos, and a right hand catches Nelson flush. In the clinch, and Nelson fires a right that backs Dos Santos up. Less than a minute. Jabs from Dos Santos. Nelson grabs a Thai clinch, but Dos Santos knees him in the guy. Tired punches from Nelson. Nelson tries a few desperation shots at the bell, and the fighters embrace at the close. Entertaining stuff, for sure. MMAjunkie.com sees the final round for Dos Santos, 10-9, and the fight in his favor 30-26. Junior Dos Santos def. Roy Nelson via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27).
