I don't want to spoil it for you When you catch the semi's this weekend you'll get it. It's something that happened on the last episode of The Ultimate Fighter...it was both hilarious and very very sad.
Round 1 - Referee Herb Dean calls the evening's main event. Johnson quick on his feet early and scores a few crisp punches to the head. Brookins drops for a few telegraphed shots, but Johnson shucks them all off with ease. Brookins continues to drive in against the fence. Johnson muscles his way free of the clinch and fires off a few more rapid-fire punches. Brookins answers with a few of his own, but a counter drops him. Johnson pounces, though Brookins survives the flurry and works back to his feet. Johnson continues to deliver damage, and Brookins looks wobbly as he's tossed to the floor. The pair scrambles up, but Brookins is clearly rocked. He fights on and shoots in. Johnson stuffs it, but they stall against the cage. Johnson kicks low, and Brookins tries to get the takedown, as well as the back in a scramble. Neither work. Brookins looks to have recovered, but he's definitely not attacking with confidence. Brookins does land a nice uppercut as a clinch breaks, but Johnson fires back before the round ends. MMAjunkie.com awards it to Johnson, 10-9.
Round 2 - Brookins bouncing to open. Johnson wings off punches again, but Brookins is able to defend and earn a takedown in the ensuing scramble. Brookins on top, and he scores with a few punches from half-mount. One minute in. Johnson flat on his back and not really looking to turn. Brookins works in a few elbows and short punches. Johnson rolls to his left, but Brookins pins his left arm and throws a few more elbows. Halfway in, and Johnson looks like he may be stuck here until the end. More elbows. Brookins postures to pass. Johnson finally works to his feet, but Brookins gives him no space to work. One minute left as Brookins presses in. He scoops the leg and slams Johnson violently to the floor. Brookins keeps the top until the bell. An astounding turn of events sees Brookins take the round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9. Both the first and the second bordering on 10-8's so this could be anybody's fight.
Round 3 - Johnson returns to the boxing attack. Brookins ducks and takes a single-leg. Johnson retreats to the cage, and Brookins sucks him away and down to his butt. Brookins grinds away as he pushes down. Johnson seated against the cage. Crowd wants a standup in the stalemate. Brookins keeps working and presses into mount. Johnson spins, pops pout the back and sweeps. Back to the feet. Johnson slips, and Brookins pushes in and tries that trademark lateral drop. Not quite as slick as the season, but it works. Brookins in half-mount.He's very high to the side, but he's only doing minimal damage with his strikes. Time winding down. Final seconds, and Brookins seals the round. MMAjunkie.com sees it for Brookins, 10-9, and gives him the fight, 29-28. Now let's see about that first round... Jonathan Brookins def. Michael Johnson via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-27).
