Grispi hits the deck, and Poirier follows, and Grispi immediately looks for a kimura on the Poirier's left arm. Poirier keeps his arm tight, but Grispi won't release it. He finally pulls it free, but Poirier extends the arm in defense. Poirier resets and fires a few right hands to the ribs. Grispi settles into guard, and the round ends there. Round 2 - Grispi pushes in early and shoots. Poirier nearly catches him with a knee coming in, but he has to settle for defending the takedown. Battle for position in the clinch. Poirier land s left hand inside and then pulls away to score two right hands. Grispi covers up and retreats. He scores a takedown as Poirier rushes in, and he looks for a guillotine choke. Poirier pulls free, but Grisp sets up a triangle choke. Poirier shakes it off with ease and lands right hands. Corner wants Poirier on the feet, and he backs away. Straight left lands for Poirier, and he fires a right, too, before hooking up a Thai clinch. Halfway in. Not much action in the clinch, but Poirier controls. Three Poirier knees are blocked, and Grispi drops and shoots. Poirier sprawls well. Grispi hangs onto a leg from his knees. Poirier drives through and settles in on top of Grispi. Poirier looks up at the clock. He might be tiring. Grispi locks up an arm underneath, but Poirier lifts and slams to escape. Poirier backs away, and Grispi has to stand. Grispi kicks to the body, nd Poirier misses a few wild punches. He goes back to the Thai clinch, but the knees he throws are blocked. He starts firing punches, and Grispi looks hurt. Bell saves him. Poirieer looks very tired as he heads to the stool, but MMAjunkie.com gives him the round, 10-9.
Round 3 - Poirier presses. Grispi defends against the cage. Poirier again goes to the Thai clinch to control the action. Grispi blocking the knees that come in, but Poirier is keeping himself out of trouble. Poirier lands a left hand when they break. Grispi shoots, but he's exhausted, too. Poirier sprawls out. Grispi throws up his legs for a submission, but Poirier feels it and backs away. Poirier again to the Thai clinch. Grispi tries desperately to grab an arm and roll for a submission, but Poirier just lets him slide off. Both guys are obviously exhausted. Poirier with his hands locked around Grispis head and firing knees. Grispi catches one and drives him all the way across the cage, into the fence and onto his back. This is Grispi's chance, and he's got a little more than two minutes. Grispi takes half-mount from the top. Poirier with an overhook on the left, and he gets full guard. Poirier with his left leg high on the back. Grispi postures and passes to side control. Less than a minute. Grispi primed to attack the arm, but Poirier scrambles back to guard. He just ties up from the bottom, and the round ends there. MMAjunkie.com sees the final round for Poirier, as well, 10-9, and gives him the fight 30-27. Dustin Poirier def. Josh Grispi via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
