Very different scenario... Munoz will throw down + be active in the guard... you wont see Munoz throw shoulder strikes while smothering (seriously...how sad was that?).

Maia is also a submission specialist... so I think this plays to his strength if Munoz tries the takedown + G&P.

Maia is far better as fara as pure Jujitsu goes granted, but Munoz has far better wrestling, ok standup a lot better than Maia's, and decent power which is probably how they saw it on the betting side of things as Munoz is better in more areas than Maia.
I think if Maia can't take Munoz down, what chance does he have of winning?

Munoz gets the decision:

Round 1 - Maia looking to load up the left hand. He catches Munoz in the ear and Munoz goes rubber legged. Big punch by Maia lands hard and he pushes Munoz into the cage. Restart after a bit of a stalling out. Maia is just unloading combinations and Munoz is getting beat up on the feet. This is not a good development for Munoz. Maia continuing to dominate the round. 10-9 Maia.

Round 2 - Munoz with a big shot early and as Maia shoots it's Munoz landing hard punches to the body and thigh from the sprawl. Maia can't get the fight to the ground but he does land some good shots. Munoz with some nice power shots in return. Maia shoots again. Munoz looking to lock in a d'arce and Maia gets top position. Munoz manages to get back to standing though and Maia shoots again and he pulls guard. Maia almost took the back in the scramble but Munoz gets up. Very high paced round. Munoz on top landing to the body now. Fight restarted with 10 seconds left and that is a 10-9 round for Munoz to even it up.

Round 3 - They hug to start the round and the crowd boos. right hand by Maia. Munoz with a takedown and Maia is back up. Munoz with another takedown attempt and Maia is trying to take the back and he almost finishes with a crucifix neck crank. Maia pushes him into the cage and Munoz turns it. Restart after no action. Left hand by Maia. Maia shoots but Munoz throws him to the ground. The round gets to the end with a few punches by each guy. 10-9 Maia on my card to give him the 29-28 win.

Official Scorecards: 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27 all for Mark Munoz. Mark Munoz wins by unanimous decision.
