Vazquez pulls off the oddsmakers' upset:

Round 1 - This bout wins the award for most intense pre-fight faces. The two fired-up fighters hit the center of the cage, and we're underway. Vazquez shoots and just misses a knee as he gets to the mat. Stevenson looks to control an arm and straightens it out to put pressure on the shoulder with the lock. Vazquez remains patient and eventually gets free. Stevenson scrambles, but Vazquez keeps him on his back. He frees a leg and works from half guard. Vazquez works short punches, but there's not much behind them. Stevenson pulls him tight, and the ref calls for a standup. The fighters miss punches from distance and paw jabs. Vazquez ducks under a punch and looks to grab a leg, but he quickly gives it up. Vazquez stalks and circles and takes Stevenson to the mat. He frees a leg as Stevenson rolls to his side. Vazquez straightens him out and delivers punches from the top, but they're not very effective. Vazquez looks to improve position, but Stevenson ties him up. Vazquez closes out the round with some body punches. It's enough for Vazquez to take the round, 10-9.
Round 2 - Vazquez paws his jab. Stevenson bobs out of range. Little action early. The fighters trade soft jabs before Vazquez gets through a couple quick rights. He follows with a left set up by a jab. Vazquez lands another left. Stevenson just misses on a left of his own before he darts out of range. Stevenson misses on a punch and is countered with a quick punch. More bobbing and missing in the middle of the cage. Stevenson grabs a leg and looks for the takedown, but Vazquez puts his back against the cage and stays upright. Stevenson elevates him and looks for the takedown, but Vazquez slaps on a guillotine. Stevenson is forced to give it up, and he resets looking for another takedown. Vazquez fends it off and delivers some knees to the body. Stevenson keeps him pinned against the cage but Vazquez scores a trip takedown and takes the fight to the mat. Stevenson rolls to a kneeling position, and Vazquez takes his back. He then rolls but can't secure the hooks, and Stevenson is back up. He immediately works for a takedown. Vazquez fends it off, and we start again standing. The fighters trade ineffective punches that miss wide. It's another round for Vazquez, 10-9.
Round 3 - Vazquez strikes first with a left. Stevenson smiles, but smiles don't win rounds. Stevenson lands a nice inside leg kick. Vazquez corrals him and just misses a knee to the head. Vazquez lands a nice flurry, and Stevenson just can't touch him with punches. Stevenson continues swinging and is growing frustrated. Vazquez picks at him with jabs and straight punches. Stevenson calls for action and gets a couple quick shots to the head that go unblocked. Stevenson lands a low kick, but Vazquez easily shakes it off. Stevenson is tiring. He clinches and tries to land a knee, but Vazquez easily avoids. Stevenson is pressing the action but just isn't landing. Vazquez lands a nice combo in the center of the cage, but the boo birds want to be heard. Stevenson lands a short superman punch and knee, but Vazquez seems unfazed. They continue trading somewhat sloppy strikes. Vazquez gets the better of it with more accurate strikes. Stevenson's desperation is leaving him open to counter shots.
