I really don't get this line. Mendes should definitely be the favorite, but I can't remember the last time a UFC line was this big. Yahya ain't no joke. He could outgrapple Mendes and win a decision or even a sub.

Round 2 - The fighters close the distance, and Mendes dumps him to the mat. He drops into full guard but soon stands. The fighters collide with low-kick attempts. Mendes looks to clinch and is countered with a punch. Yahya throws kicks and then rushes in for a takedown, but Mendes easily avoids it. Yahya moves in with largely ineffective punches. Mendes moves in with a body punch and eats a head shot. Mendes, though, closes the distance and gets the takedown, where the pace slows. Mendes lands a punch from the top, but they're soon back up. Yahya shoots for an ankle, but Mendes again easily shakes him off. The pace slows and the crowd boos before Mendes gets through a stiff right. Mendes then lands a right and avoids a counter. Mendes moves in for a takedown, but Yahya now avoids it. The pace slows again. Mendes catches a body kick but can't get the takedown. Yahya wings a couple rights, and one lands. The round ends. It's again light on action, but MMAjunkie.com scores it 10-9 for Mendes.
Round 3 - Yahya rushes in, but Mendes ducks, plants and then takes him to the mat. He works from full guard and then free a leg. Yahya uses butterfly guard. Yahya looks to isolate an arm from his back and then pulls Mendes close. The pace slows. Mendes lands a couple punches. The pace slows even more. Mendes gets through an elbow and then a few more. Yahya goes high with his guard, but there's nothing there. He grabs a leg, but Mendes is back to his feet. Yahya moves in again, and Mendes scores another easy takedown. Yahya again wants to isolate an arm. The pace slows, and the boo birds let themselves be heard. Mendes tries to dive back and avoids upkicks. Hey, there's Big Black in the seats. Back to the fight. Yahya gets to his feet. Yahya gets through a left and then staggers Mendes with a follow-up. Mendes quickly recovers, so it may have just been a slip. Mendes shoots and gets a final takedown. Mendes stands and then tries to front flip on his opponent but misses wildly. It's the cherry on top of this snoozer. MMAjunkie.com scores it 10- 9 for Mendes for a 30-28 win. Chad Mendes def. Rani Yahya via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
