Round 2 - Jacoby now looks very comfortable at range as he pops the jab. He scores with a short right, as well. Starks' right hand, so effective early on in the first, has now gone missing. Still a very cautious pace by both fighters, but Jacoby does throw a successful low kick. Jab from Jacoby stops Starks in his tracks. There's the right for Starks. Starks pushes forward aggressively and does find the chin. He'll likely be best served with that type of pressure rather than staying at the end of Jacoby's jab. Starks ducks in for the takedown with two minutes left and brings the action to the floor. Full guard for Jacoby. Starks gets a few short elbows from top position. Jacoby keeps his guard closed, and Starks lands left hands to the body. Not a ton of action, but Starks is scoring from the top with short punches here and there. Jacoby again rolls for a submission late in the round, but it's not there. Jacoby looked good early, but MMAjunkie.com awards it to Starks, 10-9, based on the late control.
Round 3 - Starks takes the center and opens with that crisp right. Jacoby throws briefly, but he's just too tentative, especially since he probably needs a finish. Starks remains a moving target, but there's not a ton of head movement. Jacoby does land a stiff punch and a knee, but Starks is OK and ducks in for another successful takedown. Jacoby looks to scramble up for a moment, but quickly goes back to a closed guard. Halfway into the final frame. Starks with blue-collar work from the top. Nothing fancy, nothing overly impressive, but he's getting the job done. Starks keeps his head buried in the chest, posturing only every few seconds to land a few right hands. Starks does back away and pass to half-mount, but Jacoby immediately goes to work on a kimura on his opponent's left arm. He's got 90 seconds to work with it. Starks struggling to keep his hand tucked in tight. With 45 seconds left, Jacoby releases the arm and likely his chances at a win. Starks throws a few short lefts. Jacoby scrambles in the closing seconds, but Starks punches away until the end. MMAjunkie.com sees the round for Starks, 10-9, giving him the fight 30-27. Clifford Starks def. Dustin Jacoby via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
