John Maguire takes it 30-27 across the board UD

Quote:
Round 1 - Referee Leon Roberts in charge. It takes little time for Edwards to land a kick to the cup, and we have a quick restart. Maguire OK to continue, and he moves forward. Edwards lands an overhand right, sending Maguire to the floor. He follows with a series of quick punches, but Maguire rolls and recovers. Edwards switches to a choke to finish, and Maguire actually sweeps to top position, brining the crowd to life. Edwards stands, and Maguire presses in from the outside. Not a lot happening in the clinch, but Maguire does earn a trip. Edwards up again quickly and crowd begs for knees. Maguire tries to drag the action down and nearly latches onto a choke. Instead, Edwards again scrambles back up to the feet. Another takedown with less than a minute remaining. Edwards holds onto an arm-in guillotine from the bottom briefly. He lets it go, and Maguire stands and kicks him in the body before the bell. Round ends, and MMAjunkie.com sees it for Maguire after recovering from the early flash knockdown.

Round 2 - Edwards looks to launch heavy leather again. Maguire more cautious this time and avoids. Traded shots early, but it's Edwards with the heavier shots. Edwards stalking, but he takes a Maguire low kick before moving into the clinch. Edwards turns for a drop, but Maguire feels and defends. He grabs from the back and works the action to the mat halfway into the round. Maguire on the back, and there's a figure-four around the waist. Maguire working for the choke, but Edwards is defending well. That said, he has been in terrible position for most of the round now. Final minute, and Maguire just tries to squeeze the chin. Nothing there. Maguire with a beautiful transition to an armbar in the finals seconds, but he can't break the grip in time. MMAjunkie.com sees another round for Maguire, 10-9.

Round 3 - Edwards stalks again to open. He lands a few crisp punches early, and he's definitely looking to score with a power shot. Maguire ducks in for an arm drag and takes the firht to the floor, but Edwards immediately attacks the leg. Maguire returns fire with a kneebar, but neither secure their hold. Maguire lands five knees to the head in a clinch, and Edwards puts a hand down to stop the punishment. Two minutes in, and Edwards tries to drop to a guillotine. It's not there, so Maguire is able to pop his head out and set up on the top. Side control for Maguire. Edwards tries to grab his arm, but Maguire steps over into mount. Edwards forced to roll again, and Maguire locks in the figure-four around the body and starts punching. He looks again for the choke. Edwards doesn't look like he'll escape. One minute remains, and Edwards does roll, but Maguire is firm on the back. Edwards alertly peels off the feet and spins out of the hold. But as soon as he moves down to attack, Maguire is there to reverse. One final scramble sees Edwards on top, but MMAjunkie.com thinks Maguire took the round, 10-9, giving him the fight 30-27. John Maguire def. Justin Edwards via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Maguire really impressed me. Thought it was gonna be lights out after Edwards dropped him in the first.

Had a heart attack and checked the time as well haha. The spinning back kick was very nice. My stream lagged out after that, will have to find a way to see the fight after main card.
