[QUOTE=2kni3;1522920]BJ would destroy Hendricks ?! WRONG
BJ penn is a small 155er with little to no wrestling and a bad gas tank and he is out of his prime .
Stylistically .. Johny Hendricks is a HORRIBLE match up for BJ Penn .. Johny Hendricks has very good cardio and keeps coming forward and putting pressure on his opponents ,BJ Penn would get destroyed in the stand up and on the ground[quote]
This is down right delusional man. Seriously. Hendricks is a terrible match up for Penn? How many wrestlers has BJ made a career out of stomping? Sherk, Hughes, Sanchez and Stevenson are all GREAT wrestlers. Sherk and Hughes being two of the best of all time in their divisions at wrestling. Hughes had 0 chance of taking BJ down in that fight. I don't know where the hell you're getting that BJ has no wrestling because he's got EXCELLENT wrestling. His TDD is ridiculous, his balance is damn near flawless and his offensive wrestling (when he actually chooses to use it, like against Fitch) is very, very good. Sure BJ has had cardio issues in the past but he's had no problem going 3 rounds with anyone in a long time.
Let`s not forget Mike Pierce was destroying Jon Fitch on the feet and in round 3 he was close to finishing Jon Fitch .. had that fight gone 1 more round Mike Pierce could of very well finished Jon Fitch or won by decision .
He caught him with a good shot, yes. Pierce has some serious power, too, and a lot of fighters would've went out from that. Jon has more heart and a better chin than a lot of fighters. Hendricks won't put him away.
power , strength , speed , Athletisim goes to Johny Hendricks
No way in hell. Power yes. Strength? No way. Jon is like 220 in his off season and he manhandles every WW he gets his hands on. He's easily one of the strongest WW fighters in the UFC if not the strongest. Speed I think is par. Neither fighter is particularly fast standing. Jon will run circles on him on the floor though. And Athleticism is a clear victory for Fitch. When's the last time you saw the dude gas? I've NEVER seen it happen and he puts up a pace that very, very few fighters can even hope to contend with. Between Johny constantly fighting off takedowns, trying to stand back up and stop from being choked he's going to be gassed midway through the second.
Johny Hendricks on the other hand was winning the stand up war against Mike Pierce and he won round 1 and 2 against Mike Pierce pretty easily .. with round 3 being VERY close but i gave a very slight edge to Mike Pierce in that round .. even though a 10-10 round would be possible since Hendricks was destroying Mike Pierce on the feet and has in my opinion right now possibly one of the best stand up`s in the UFC .. he is a fighter that constantly improves with each fight .. while Jon Fitch has stayed the same through out his whole career in my opinion .
WHAT!? I'm not sure if you're talking about Hendricks or Pierce but either way that's absolutely ridiculous. Pierce is a bit more refined but he's still a sloppy power puncher. Hendricks is even worse with the way he just wings haymakers. And if you think Jon has stayed the same throughout his career go back and watch his fights with Alves and BJ and tell me his stand up hasn't improved. He beat the **** out of Alves standing and Avles is a better striker than both Hendricks and Pierce combined.
now let`s look at the Jon Fitch vs Mike Pierce fight ..
Jon fitch was getting destroyed in the stand up and round 1 in that fight was close but went to Fitch .. Round 2 was very close too but I gave it to Mike Pierce
Round 3 Mike Pierce absolutely destroyed him and was close to knocking him out .. could give Mike Pierce 10-9 easily in that round .. some may argue it was a 10-8 though as he was very dominant .
IIRC isn't the second round where Jon took him down and almost choked him the whole round? Had his back most of the time etc etc. I hardly call that winning the round.
I understand ur a Jon Fitch fan .. but Johny Hendricks is a horrible match up for him stylistic wise ..
the only other legit wrestler Jon Fitch faced was Mike Pierce .. and he gave him a ton of trouble ..
Johny Hendricks is an even better wrestler and through out his MMA career did not even bother working on his wrestling .. but for this camp he working on his wrestling heavily just to be prepared .
This has nothing to do with me being a Fitch fan and everything to do with me being an MMA fan. I'm breaking down this fight with relavtive unbias (or trying to). Hendricks is not a nightmare match up for Fitch at all. He poses his threats (basically a big right hand) but it's nothing Jon hasn't dealt with in other fighters before. Hendricks has looked really, really good fighting a lot of bottom of the barrel guys, but the gap in skill between those guys and the guys at the top of the heap like Fitch, Alves and GSP are really going to be highlighted in this fight.
