Ben Henderson vs. Anthony Pettis II? I say yes, and here's why...

Back in 2010 these two put on a hell of a fight and a fitting end to the awesomeness that was WEC.

At the time WEC LWs were seen as being not quite on the same level as the LWs in the UFC, but since the merger has happened that theory has been proven very wrong. WEC's LWs have proven to belong in the UFC and they all seem very hungry and talented.

With Bendo winning the title last night and Pettis scoring an impressive KO win over Joe Lauzon the stage could be set for the rematch.

Pettis came into the UFC as the number one contender, but lost that status because of both Gray Maynard who got his rematch with Edgar, and Clay Guida who beat Pettis.

With Pettis winning in such impressive fashion last night, him already having been "robbed" of his titleshot and the fact that he is one of the few people who actually have a win over the current champ the rematch makes sense.

The promise of another amazing 5-round war between the two is just the icing on the cake.

We still to take the winner of Diaz vs. Miller into account, as he could possibly be next in line as well. But the way I see it that fight is still in the future and unless one of the two wins in very impressive fashion, Bendo vs. Pettis II both makes more sense, but also seems far more interesting.

I say book Bendo vs. Pettis II for the big FOX show in August, that way the UFC makes up for the mistake of keeping Bendo off the first FOX card and gets the new breed of LW fighters some much needed exposure on national television with what is almost guaranteed to be an awesome fight

Go for it Dana!

While I think Bendo/Pettis II would be a great fight, I don't think a split decision win over a scrub and KO of a fringe top 10 LW is enough to warrant a title shot. Id rather have the Diaz/Miller winner get the shot & if Pettis beats his next opponent, he would then get his shot against the Bendo vs Diaz/Miller winner.

I think the next contender fight should involve Edgar fighting Pettis, Pettis came into the UFC being the last WEC lightweight champion, hit a stumbling block in losing to Guida, but has 2 straight wins now, also holds victory over now current UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson. As for Edgar he lost a close decision to Henderson, in my opinion warrants a possible re-match, but Pettis should be in the mix based on the fact he was the last WEC champ and holds a victory over Henderson

No matter who he faces it would be a great fight for the FOX show though - I just really want him to face Pettis because I loved the first fight so much

Perhaps I'm grasping at straws

I think Miller/Diaz winner would be more deserving of the title fight, but the timing doesn't really work out, so they can squeak in a Bendo/Pettis fight in early summer then have Bendo/Pettis vs Miller/Diaz in the at the end of the year.

I hope Frankie drops to FW and fights Aldo...

I say...let's wait for the result of Diaz.vs Miller.

Depending on how that fight goes...who the winner is...and how convincingly he wins.

If Diaz dominates Miller I think he should get the titled shot. He would have wins over a guy the champion recently best plus a win against a guy who was cruising (Cerrone). That's deserving.
Plus..intriguing match-up.

If Miller wins however...it world be hard making a case for a shot, considering he lost to Henderson badly just 2 fights ago.

In that case, I would prefer Henderson vs Pettis 2...not that I don't like it right now....I just think Diaz would be a bit more deserving if he would win his next fight.

Anyway...I only see great fights in the near future in the LW division. We should enjoy this.

PS: for the guy calling Stephens a "scrub"...LOL @ your opinion

I'd much rather see a Bendo-Pettis rematch than Bendo-Miller rematch, it would be awesome. I'd also be up for a Bendo-Edgar rematch. Would be funny if Edgar rematches his 3rd straight opponent!

Eh....I think Pettis is more deserving, I mean he earned a title match when he won the WEC title over Henderson. I understand Miller being a sentimental favorite but he did lose to Benson and lose convincingly.

As for Diaz, I feel like it's good business to wait, keep him in the mix maybe have him fight Florian if he returns. Diaz vs Henderson might make money but having both Diaz brothers fighting for titles that's a million buy PPV.

Well I say put Bendo vs Pettis on FOX (Mostly to establish them as the draws that they could/deserve to be) and the first match will easily hype up the rematch
