This is gonna look a lot like the Paul Daley fight unless Kampmann takes it to the ground.
Fully agree with the top half, Kampmann's striking is over rated but I'm not so sure Ellenberger's striking is as good as it's hyped up to be either.

I'll take Berger via split.

He was able to put Jake Shields away, something Dan Henderson a guy whose knocked out Heavyweights, Light Heavyweights, and Middleweights couldn't even do. He's not the most technical by any means but everybody is aware of his power and rightfully so.

He's a nasty match up for a guy like Kampmann who has very good striking offense and poor striking defense. Diego found his chin and I think Ellenberger will do the same.

The large majority of the online MMA community believed Ellenberger was going to easily dispose of "The Dream" with a quick KO because of the Shields victory.

With Shields father passing away just weeks prior to the Ellenberger fight, it's a safe bet to assume that Shields wasn't any where near mentally focused for the fight. I know if my Dad had just passed away, the last thing on my mind would be an upcoming job interview, or in Shields case, a dangerous fight in a steel cage, lulz.

I think it was Rashad who made this quote (or some thing similar) on his TUF season with Rampage:

"If you go into a fight with other things on your mind and you're not 110 percent focused, bad things will happen to you".

Nice. Ellenberger should take this. For some reason i never quite liked Kampmann.

It may sound like a reasonable excuse and I'm sure it played a small part in the loss.

But the fact is that Ellenberger is just a terrible match up for Shields. and i seriously doubt that had his father not died, he would have improved his wrestling and striking significantly enough to make a difference in the fight.

OT:

Should be a great fight but i see Ellenberger walking away with the decision after Rocking Kampmann multiple times.

Would be nice to see Kampmann continue his little winning streak but I agree with you guys, Ellenberger is a bad match up for him. I think this will be similar to the Paul Daley/Kampmann fight.

If the Ellenberger that fought Sanchez shows up, Kampmann has this. I see him submitting Ellenberger in the 3rd.

Not sure why you'd say that, Ellenberger handled Sanchez just fine for the two rounds, dropping him in the first and landing some nice GNP in the second, the only reason Sanchez mounted in any offense in the third was because his pace is incredible and Ellenberger is nothing but muscle and will likely always have cardio problems due to that.

If Ellenberger lands clean on Kampmann like he did to Diego in the first round Kampmann may never see the 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Kampmann being a #1 contender is a joke.
