Ellenberger vs. Kampmann set for TUF Live Finale

Mar 21, 2012 - The UFC added a trio of interesting fights to its busy summer schedule on Wednesday.

Jake Ellenberger will meet Martin Kampmann in a five-round main event at the TUF Live Finale on June 1, UFC officials announced.

The welterweight clash could very well produce the next No. 1 contender in the 170-pound division after champion Georges St-Pierre and interim champion Carlos Condit unify the belts later this year.

The TUF Live Finale, which will also feature the finals of the 15th season of The Ultimate Fighter, will air live on FX and is expected to take place in Las Vegas. No venue has been announced for the event, thus far.

Ellenberger (27-5) most recently defeated Diego Sanchez via unanimous decision last month, while Kampmann (19-5) submitted Thiago Alves with a guillotine with just 48 seconds remaining in their UFC on FX 2 fight earlier this month.

In other UFC news, the organization announced that UFC 148, scheduled for July 7 in Las Vegas, will feature the 170-pound debut of Demian Maia against Dong Hyun Kim, plus hard-hitting Costa Philippou will meet Riki Fukuda in middleweight action.

Kampmann was getting beat down by the worst Thiago Alves I've ever seen.

Ellenberger has the power to KO anyone at 170.

I don't think Jake's gonna have to worry about his cardio issues, he's gonna trash Kampmann.

Kampman is no slouch, but Ellenberger just has too much power and will probobly have Kampman hurt most of the fight.

I have Ellenberger by dominating UD or KO/TKO.

I hope Ellenberger gets a title shot if he wins.

Kampmann by arm triangle. Kampmann is the more technical striker I think, but Ellenberger has more power. Ellenberger has pretty solid TDD so it'll be hard for Kampmann to take him down early. He will have to wear on him and perhaps catch him with a good shot. After that it'll hit and ground and hopefully Kampmann can sub him.

Tough fight to call though.

Kampmann via total domination or Ellenberger by flash KO. I don't see a way Ellenberger could win this except with his power. Kampmann is a much better striker and his grappling is top notch. He gets hit a lot in his fights though and that's where it could end quickly for him.

Kampmann by RNC.

Kampmann is like the WW version of Bisping. From a technical stand point he can outbox 95% of the division but you always fear for him when he faces a power puncher. Ellenberger did well on the ground against Rocha who is a black belt in BJJ so I don't think Kampmann will find it easy to sub him...

This has split Decision written all over it imo

Kampmann's striking is ridiculously over rated. He has clean technical strikes but he blocks everything with his face and he's so damn slow. He can win if he takes it to the ground but he seems to do the opposite of what he's supposed to do in his fights.

This is gonna look a lot like the Paul Daley fight unless Kampmann takes it to the ground.

I thought this too. Their mutual split decisions to and against Condit plus Kampmann's split loss to Shields and Ellenberger's split win over Rocha...

If this is a split decision, Shields/Kampmann/Rocha/Ellenberger should all have a tournament to see who fights Condit, sort all these decisions out.

Looking forward to this one. Winner of this must be in line for a title shot.
