Both very winnable fights for him. Also both clear top 5's. If the UFC wants to get hive a title shot, that's the route.

Franklin vs. Bisping, anyone? That'd be a really interesting fight IMO.
Would give us a good measuring stick for the division.

Solid re-addition to MW. Happy to have him back in the division. People can say what they like, but Ace is still a handful, especially at MW.

I'm happy.
It always sucks when someone at the top of the division changes wait classes because they cant beat the champion. They measure out the division. For instance, lets say before jon fitch lost to hendrick, he moved up to MW. People would still be saying he's the #2 WW and that "blah and blah couldnt even beat fitch let alone gsp".
It's never good to lose a top 5 fighter in any division just because they cant beat the champion, just look at the LW division. Florian left, sanchez left, bj left, who's to say those 3 plus maynard, pettis, bendo, and frankie arent the top 7? We saw guillard go to the top, cerrone go to the top, miller go to the top, siver go to the top, guida go to the top, and diaz go to the top because of all of them leaving. But honestly, i think any of those fighters would lose to bj, florian, or sanchez. Well maybe BJ would lose to diaz but still. It screws us fans on knowing who's the best in each division.
BUT, i do understand why fighters do it. Some of them want the strap around their waste and if they cant get it done at one division, they try to in another.

I don't care if he has another title run in him or not - the dude's a class act & one helluva solid fighter. Can't wait.

Rich has lost the whopping two times at 185 in his career, both to Silva. What a total bum.
Joking aside, I wouldn't count him out yet as he is still one of the best conditioned guys in the sport, also one of the smartest. I don't think he would beat Silva, but anyone else at 185 he can potentially beat.
It's easy to cheer for the guy too for many reasons so I would love to see him fight his way back into contention.

Franklin is better in nearly every aspect, minus TDD, which shouldn't really be an issue that fight. I only see Sonnen and Vitor posing problems for Franklin at 185.

Its good that he's being realistic about it. I think with good stylistic match-ups Franklin can get back to the top at MW, but when he's up against the top 3 (Silva, Belfort, Sonnen), his Cinderella train will come to an abrupt, and unfortunate end...
That being said, Franklin belongs at MW. He may never champion the division again, but he certainly wouldn't at LHW, and there are far more interesting, and even fights for him in his home weightclass.
