Dana White: Soccer Least-Talented Sport On Earth

Quote:
Being a blabbermouth is one thing, but these are fighting words.

UFC president Dana White, legendary for speaking his mind, didn't hold back when giving his opinion of the world's most popular sport.

"Canít stand soccer. Itís the least-talented sport on Earth. Thereís a reason three-year-olds can play soccer. When youíre playing a game when the net is that big and the score is 3-1 (and thatís a blowout) are you kidding me? You know how untalented you have to be to score three times when the net is that big?," White said.

White, talking with reporters from the Calgary Sun to promote an upcoming upcoming UFC fight card in Vancouver, was in a feisty mood. The lightning rod of mixed martial arts also shared his preferred phrase.

"The F word is my favourite word ever. Greatest #%@*in night of my life. Worst #%@*in night ever. I still use them all the time."

On the other hand, White is a big supporter of hockey, although he feels those who want fighting out of the sport have a few screws loose.

We will never share your email address. You can unsubscribe anytime.
"Now back to hockey. Ö. Thatís a real sport that takes real talent, speed and all the things you need to be a real athlete. Now fighting is a part of hockey and has been since day one. Itís part of the game. It is what it is. I think we live in a world now where everything has been so p***y-fied. When I grew up we didnít wear helmets when we rode our bikes. We didnít have car seats. We didnít have all this stuff. Now things are safer and we should be safer but letís not go overboard. Fightingís a part of hockey. Period."

Hopefully some puck loving blogger will send NHL commissioner Gary Bettman a copy of these words.

Although media in Canada are treating the UFC as a legitimate sport, White knowns he's still got work to do in America.

"We did this without the mainstream media in the U.S. To this day, the mainstream media in the U.S. doesnít give usÖnot us, the athletesÖthe respect they deserve. Thatís why Iíve become such a monster on social media. You donít want to cover us? You know what? Weíll talk directly to our fans."

All things considered, White's honesty is refreshing, but isn't likely to help convert any soccer lovers to his sport.

That's how you promote in Canada, am I wrong? 'Hockey good, soccer bad.' In Brazil he'd probably do the reverse or something. He can say his opinion all he wants, but talking about how much talent a sport has or the three year old angle is going to make him sound more ignorant than anything else.

That's just like listening to my grandmother talk about football, neither has got a fkn clue what they are talking about, but they run their mouth and embarrass themselves. Difference is, she's a 85-year old woman, this is the president of a major sports franchise. Absolutely embarrasing from Dana.

I actually respect him more for this

he knows it is unpopular view but its what he honestly thinks so he is not afraid to say it

do i agree with it, nope, but just because i dont agree with someones views does not mean i cant respect him for not being afraid to voice his views

Guess someone forgot to inform Dana that soccer is the biggest sport in the world. Good job pissing off half your fan base and the entire South American region.

Dana may be onto something, though. Pulling someones shirt over their head and delivering hooks to them whilst on ice skates takes a good amount of skill.
