Wanderlei Silva on his rematch against Belfort

Quote:
“This is the fight of my life [against Vitor Belfort]. I’ve waited all my career for this fight. I’ve waited for (14) years for this fight. He is one of the guys I really, really want to fight before I (retire). This fight is the fight of my dreams. I’ve been fighting since I was 13 years old. I’ve fought for 21 years of my life. But, I still feel really good. I feel really motivated. You need to respect the body. We’re not 22, 23 years old. I’m 35. I’m not looking 35, but I’m 35. But I’m not too old, I’m not too young. Maybe I can make my last fight in Japan. Maybe, I don’t know. But we’re going to check with the boss when they’re going to have their next show there. I want to make my last fight in Japan.”

While a guest on yesterday’s “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani, MMA legend Wanderlei Silva proclaimed that his upcoming fight against Vitor Belfort is the fight of his dreams.

The two fought at “UFC Brazil” back in 1998 and it only took Belfort 44-seconds to beat Silva via TKO.

Will the second fight yield a different result for “The Axe Murder”?

I think this rematch needed to happen a little bit earlier for silva, but its fights like these where no one gives a fighter a chance and then they end up winning.

Wandy is too slow these days and against someone like Vitor, that gets you KO'd. Although, if Vitor doesn't end it in the first round I can see Wandy making a comeback.

Love Wandy but let's be real there's no possible way he wins this, he's been tagged in his last two fights(even though he brought the Leben loss on himself) he's just not capable of hanging with a guy like Vitor who still has his incredible hand speed, power, and still has a very good chin.

I don't get the reason behind this fight, all that Wanderlei needs to retire talk is just gonna fire right back up after Vitor violently ends his night, again.

I'm with you but what other guy from Brazil should Vitor have fought instead? I'm sure Wandy wanted a rematch too.

I love both guys but I see Vitor smashing Wandy again. Maybe not like the first fight, but I expect it to be terribly one-sided.

Terrible fight for Wandy. I sadly see him going down with the first punch. Might be just as fast if not faster than the Leben fight

It'd be funny if it went down identically in method and fashion as the first match went.

A friend of mine asked me who would win this fight.

I think wanderlei silva is a fantastic fighter. A legend in the sport who has had a fantastic career filled with legendary fights with some of the greatest fighters who have ever lived. This man is probably the most aggressive and violent fighter in mma history. He is awesome and one of my favorite fighters.

Wandy has knockout power and is aggressive. He could land that one punch KO on vitor. Go wandy

Yeah, I tend to agree Wand could've used this rematch back in his Pride days when Vitor was less than stellar and he could stomp. These guys are two of my all time favorites, but Wand is my numero uno, so I'll be rooting for him to get revenge. Watch, Silva is gonna learn that Seagal special kick!
