Then, this individual came up to me and said: "I'll pay you a salary to help me beat up a Filipino guy Ive been mocking for the past few years"
Well, in that position, the only times I would accept this is:
1) If I had trouble feeding myself
2) Enough money to change my lifestyle entirely.
Other than that, I would consider myself a sell out.
Hopefully I explained myself better.
Does that make sense to you?

I could care less if the guy was the biggest basher of my country in the world. If he offered me the chance to get world class training to better my own career how is that "selling out"? If you turned down the chance to help someone while at the same time bettering yourself you are a fool. Period

It wouldn't surprise me if Vinny needed the money. He's been fighting in the lower circuits of MMA lately, he probably doesn't exactly make the big bucks. It's a good opportunity to train with such a well known skilled fighter and make a little money while doing it. The benefits to that are nice and his family will probably appreciate it.
What fighter wouldn't want the chance to train with a top 5 UFC middlewight and benefit a lot for his own MMA career, while also making good money to top it off? That's a win win situation for you and your family.

Im not sure about being a 'fool' but I guess we just disagree.
I run a fairly successful business, and life is good for me even though I rarely/if ever work with people who I believe have a skewed moral compass.
ALL of these contracts would have brought me money.
ALL of them would have taught me something.
But in the end, I found another person to make money with, and I learnt skills from other people.

Explain yourself better, yes... Make sense to ME, no!
It is clear to anybody with half a brain that the comments Chael made about Brazil were tongue in cheek. He was trying to get a rise out of a fighter and get inside their head. I dont think he has any sort of anti-brazil agenda. He is just simply trying to get certain Brazilian fighters upset at him and to fight emotional.
I dont judge him to be immoral based on THE ABOVE!

I've done it on several occasions, but see, Im fortunate because the pay cut did not mean I could not provide for my family.
I could understand if he was struggling financially or if he was in debt, but if it just means he might have to wait an extra month to make similar money, then I think he's a sell-out.
I often thought the expression: "Im doing this for my family" was an easier way to say you're a sell-out. Its not always the case, but in my life experience it has been.
Its an excuse for people to compromise their morals for money.
All the freaking crooked people Ive ever tried to do business with have always said this to me.
They'd go out, do shady business deals, do something illegal or screw another person over, and claim its to feed their family. The whole time, their kids are in a good school, there is more than enough food at home, 2 or 3 cars in the driveway, couple of vacations a year etc.
Im not saying Vinny doesnt need the money. I dont know if he does.
I just think its a weak argument that doing it for money makes it right.

I agree. I'm sure Chael asked half of the entire BJJ community getting rejected til Vinny came along. Wonder why he didn't get Maia...lolz! That would have really pissed off Anderson which ultimately means we'd probably see some fireworks.

We're probably the minorities on here. It is what it is. I don't care as long as it's a good fight. Personally I'm not sure I would have done it. There's other ways of generating income rather than being labelled a Benedict Arnold down the line. But hey if you gotta "feed your family" then that's his prerogative.
I think it served a dual purpose. Why not hire Frank Mir or Robert Drysdale (half Brazillian, but more westernized)...Chael specifically hired a Brazillian to get under Anderson's skin knowing full well that both would take a lot of heat and get the publicity going.
