Vinny Magalhaes Responds To Heat For Helping Sonnen | Shut the F*** UP

Quote:
Believe it or not Brazilians are not too fond of Chael Sonnen.

It is because of this reason that if you are a Brazilian and you assist Sonnen with beating a Brazilian in the cage you might be coined a traitor.

Such is the case for many coaches in the MMA world. I have personally talked to some high level guys who have been very hesitant about helping Chael prep for Silva because of this very fact.

However, Ultimate Fighter finalist and BJJ world champion Vinny Magalhaes has no issue with it. To him itís a job, but he did take the time to respond to his critics via his official twitter account and this is what he said.

ďI do have all these responsibilities, so If youíre going to question why Iím going to train with Chael, why donít you just pay me to sit at home and not go to Oregon, I will do that for you without a problem, but if you are not willing to do that, sometimes is just better not give your opinion and shut the **** up before you get all your facts straight.

Fedor wanted me to go there train with him, when the rumors were that he was going to have a rematch against Fabricio Werdum (A Brazilian); did I go to Russia to train with him? NoÖ Why I didnít? Because there was not going to be any pay for my services. I will always put my family in first place, I donít know if thatís how you guys think, but with me If my family depends on me, I will do whatever I can to provide them the best I can.

Also, Iím Not sure if it was noticed, but on the title of the thread it clearly says ďHIRESĒ, I guess that makes it pretty clear that Iím not going there as a favor. And I guarantee that neither was Chael expecting me to leave my job and family just to help him as a favor.Ē
I like Vinny

Vinny is kind of unstable, he was never able to make the right choices towards his own career. So everything he does should be seen with that in mind and people shouldn't be surprised if he, yet again, makes the bad choice.

How does helping Chael hurt his career?

It will put money in his pocket, which seems to be the most important factor to him right now, but won't make him being less of a pariah in Brasil and that can affect his fighting career when we take sparring partners and motivation factors into account.

Actually I don't see how this is the bad choice. He is getting a paycheck to support his family vs working for free to help Fedor. Easy choice in my book.

But by him training with him he is adding more to his training as well. brasil isn't the only place he can train. And by him helping Chael does it add loses to his record?

Besides some people getting pissed about him helping someone they hate I don't see a down side.

Yes, working for a paycheck is a horrible idea????

Listen, he is working with one of the best fighters in the world, not only is he going to get paid for doing it, but he will surely learn a thing or two.

If people cant accept that the guy has to feed his family, then that is just petty!

I'm pretty sure not all Brazilians like each other, otherwise there wouldn't be murders, etc (not saying Vinny doesn't like Anderson)... but people need to get over the country separatism. It's a job, he needs money, good for him.

It's not like he's best friends with Anderson, so who cares.
