Why should Jon jones go up ?
I've read alot of people on here, you tube, twitter you name it stating that Jon jones is a bully and coward for fighting in the light heavyweight devision and i would like to start a discussion on
The matter. Jon jones walks around at 225, but guys like rampage, Evans, thiago silva, bader, griffen, Tito walk around the same if not heavyier, so why does jones get stick for this?. Okay he's clearing out the decision but so has silva and Gsp for the past few years yet they dnt get stick. This happens all the time in UFC, Maynard and Ben Henderson don't belong at 155 but do they get stick ? If the fighter can make the cut then why not.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head. People just like to whine because Jones effortlessly destroyed their idols, so it must be something "unfair" or cowardly on his part. The Shogun and Machida nuthuggery was strong on this forum and many others. His cockiness doesn't help things either.
In fact I'm fairly sure guys like Jardine, Ortiz and possible Forrest cut more water weight than Bones for LHW. Bones has literally no lower body mass, and his body fat percentage is practically negative.
I think people just see the reach and tell themselves he belongs in the SSSHW division or something, but it's not like there aren't people in other divs that have had a huge reach advantage compensated by a leaner frame more vulnerable to takedowns or leg kicks. Guys like Kendall Grove, Anderson Silva, Florian, Diaz bros etc.
He can move to HW to challenge himself if he cleans out LHW, but it's by no means a requirement or "where he belongs".

Shogun fans are still upset, that's why. The Machida fans took the loss and accepted, you had those moronic crybabies on Sherdog screaming it's not fair that Shogun got beat up because Jones is a natural Heavyweight.
The guy's 225 lbs and has legs that resemble tooth picks, if he went up to Heavyweight and fought a guy like Pat Barry whose one of the worst fighters in the UFC, Jones would lose because his legs wouldn't be able to handle kicks from a guy like Barry.
Of course if he fills out like his brothers have then he'll be forced to go up, Arthur is like 300 lbs and plays for the Ravens and his other brother Chandler is in this year's NFL draft too.

Foolish for him to move up just yet.
When you have the perfect body for a weight class, without half killing yourself to make weight, then you take advantage of that.
I suspect most of the people who want him to move up, simply want to see him lose, as opposed to whats right or wrong.

Yeah, don't believe everything you hear about Jones' walk-about weight etc, he asked Dana if he could move up to HW this year, but Dana said no.
Why did Jones request this? Because the cut is tough and only getting tougher. Why did Dana say no? Because Jones is worth more money doing what he's doing at LHW, than moving up and possibly never obtaining the belt.
Sure there are other LHW's who get heavier(fatter) between fights, but most of them could walk around at 215 if they wanted. Anyone who thinks Jones will never fight at HW is wrong, and anyone who thinks it'll be purely out of choice is wrong. He has the biggest wingspan in the UFC and was substantially bigger than all of his LHW Championship opponents so far, and his next one will be the smallest of them all.
And I don't like Jones but to be fair, he obviously always knew he'd have to go HW and is trying to go there. He's milked LHW for what it's worth, at the risk of not having similar success at HW and being seen as a fighter dependant on size. I won't judge that until I see him at HW, personally I think his time at LHW will be the highlight of his career.

This is dead on... the only thing I may not completely agree with is the last line... I think Jon's going to be a beast at HW as well.
Simply put, the majority of people who think with their heads and not their hearts talk about Jon moving up, because sooner than later he's going to be forced to. Not by the UFC, or his camp, but by genetics. Jon's only 24, and as he hits 26,27,28, as my fellow 30 somethings can attest... he will gain mass, no matter what he does.
By the end of his career Jones will fight comfortably at about 145 to 155 lbs... similar to Dos Santos.

Well at the press conference the other week Rashad was heavier than jones. As someone said jones legs are stick thin he only has a bigger upper body.

Because cutting weight is cheating and nobody should do it for their own health and the legitimacy of weight classes.

If it is true that Bones weight cut is more brutal then I assumed, then that would completely change my opinion.
But, from what Ive seen, hes in good shape all the time. He never seems to inflate to any degree.
I would really like to know his weight 8 weeks before a fight.
*sigh * ... Us petty internet debaters ( myself firmly included ) are always lacking any proper meat and bones evidence.
... doesn't stop us though, does it.

221lb on the 7th April, has to weigh in at 205 on the 20th. That doesn't sound too bad, but judging by the photo and supposed body/fat percentage at 221lb, he must be pretty drained when he makes 205.
IMO he wouldn't document his weight so much if it wasn't a delicate process.
