Velasquez should step in for Overeem, not Mir

What the heck is all the buzz about Mir? Make's no sense. Cain is the logical choice to step in. He's the better fighter, more well rounded, higher ranked, etc. I don't get the Mir love that's going on.

Mir is on a 3 fight win streak, Cain just lost. It is more that the first fight doesn't really deserve a rematch so they are going with the next best contender.

I really hope Mir/Dos Santos happens, I absolutely love an underdog come-from-behind victory, and I also love seeing Frankie get knocked out. I'm more than likely going to be a happy man either way if this fight happens.

The only time you're going to get an immediate title rematch is if the fight was a wildly controversial decision or an extremely close fought fight. Just think of Frankie Edgars last 5 fights for an example.

According to the picture 5 posts up... it looked pretty decisive who won that fight.

Frank isn't necessarily overly deserving of the title fight, he's just the closest runner up on a winning streak.

I personally really want to see Cain vs Mur.... and I'm really hoping they don't break this fight up.

I don't however have a better fill in fight as Overeem needs to go and I don't think Hunt really deserves the shot yet. Too bad they didn't wait until the SF guys were ready to transition over. Knowing Overeems' shady nature, you would think the pessimistic in Dana would say, I should wait to schedule my huge HW card until the SF HW are ready to do a last minute fill in if I need be.

It's not "Mir love", it's the fact that he's the guy on the winning streak against decent competition, and he's a former champ, all of which makes him the most deserving. Did you forget that Cain just got knocked out by JDS? What's the point in a rematch now? Cain needs to get back in the win column first. Whether or not you think Mir is the best fight for JDS isn't the point; it's who deserves it most, and, right now, Mir has the best case for a title shot of any heavyweight on the roster.

The same Cain who got manhandled in his last fight in under 2 minutes by the guy you want to see him fight?

No thanks, that guy needs a few wins first. If their first fight was controversial i'd be more inclined to agree, but he got handled quickly so I would rather see Mir/JDS.

Worst idea of the week.

I'm getting sick of instant rematches, as is most people. But at least some of them are warranted.

Cain was KO'd in a minute. Why would he get another immediate shot?

No way. Terrible idea.

I think Mir is just the highest on the list of not favorable options to fill in for this fight. If Cain vs. JDS was a barn burner, it would be a no brainer.

Plain and simple, Cain vs. JDS 2 at this point in time isn't interesting, it isn't an easy sell to very many fans which does not maximize PPV potential.

Mir is on a 3 fight win streak, not an impressive one but he's the best option out of the available fighters right now. The fact that his sub of Nog was good despite almost being knocked out and the fact that he is a former champion work in his favor.
