Hey Overeem tested positive for a steroid, do you guys think he might be on a steroid?! Could be! Maybe! I smell a survey!

Sometimes I think people completely forget what the definition of "steroid" is.

He's obviously on something, considering his T/E ratio. The 6:1 ratio that commissions use is more than lenient, and considering he was well over 10:1 he's obviously using something!

Maybe he has a legitimate reason that he hasn't disclosed (doubt it). That would be a different story, but clearly he's on something. If somebody can give me an example of any human that has had over a 10:1 T/E ratio without being on anything, I would be absolutely amazed.

To me, it's not even a question. And the whole fiasco over his last fight really doesn't help his situation.

well he technically didn't test "positive" for anything. Everyone would test "positive" for steroids as testosterone is a steroid, and we all produce that naturally...

his testosterone to epitestosterone (both steroids) ratio was 14:1. Most people have a natural 1:1, or maybe a 2:1 ratio. NSAC flags anything over a 6:1 ratio, which is extremely lenient, as I doubt anyone has a natural 6:1 ratio.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a jackass, but I feel there is so much mis-information out there on this topic in MMA...

People are acting like Overrem has ever tested positive before.
May i remind you guys that He never poped before,
so he probably never fought with that kind of huge ratio.
In my book that makes him a lot better that every single one of those guys that have been fighting with that kind of an edge for years now.
And it makes me sick to the stomach that people praise them instead of calling them what they are: CHEATERS!
Not saying that the reem isn't one, but at least on fight night he comes within legal levels.
Great - so juice up all you want prior to fighting, but stop your cycle a week or two prior to fighting and everything is kosher is guess?

I'm sorry, what a dumb comment.

It's rare as a percentage of the population, but natural ratios above 6:1 do happen.

http://joe.endocrinology-journals.or...2/353.full.pdf

In table 2 in that study, you can see the average, standard deviation and range of T:E ratios (listed as TG/EG) for a group of men with naturally abnormal ratios. The highest guy was at 12.59:1.

I'm not saying Overeem is a natural outlier like that, but they do exist. Overeem didn't get his other tests flagged by the NSAC for a 6:1 ratio, which you'd obviously expect if this last 14:1 was natural.

Some people think that they can convey either a philosophy on life or a complex political statement using a signature on the internet. I'm not one of them.

Well you're right, but technically everyone would test positive for every steroid. Some chemical variant of all of them is found naturally in the body in small quantities.

Obviously when we say test positive we mean tested for quantities that aren't feasible for anything but horses.

Overeem isn't stupid he isn't taking steroids anymore and to be fair you can get that big with a ton of discipline i have seen it happen in the gym i go to, but he defiantly took something when he was younger because his test levels are so ****ed up
