Maynard opens as a 3 to 1 favorite over Guida

Quote:
Gray Maynard will look to get back in the hunt for the UFC Lightweight title in June when he faces off with Clay Guida at UFC on FX 4.

Coming into the fight the odds makers have Maynard as the heavy favorite over Guida.

According to BetonFighting.com, Maynard comes in as a 3 to 1 favorite over Guida. Maynard currently sits as a -305 favorite while the comeback on Guida is set as a +235 underdog/

Both men are coming off of losses against the divisions top two Benson Henderson & Frankie Edgar. Maynard lost via TKO in his showdown with Edgar at UFC 136 this past October, Guida lost via unanimous decision in one of the best fights of the year at the UFC on Fox show last November.

Both fighters have a wrestling base, Maynard recently has been using his to keep the fight standing whereas Guida looks to take the fight to the ground and grind out victories.

Maynard moved camps leaving Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas and has trained with Nova Uniao in Brazil before settling in California with AKA.

The main event will be a five round fight where cardio could play a big part. Guida is known for his relentless pace and Maynard’s last two fights have gone more than three rounds.

Anything can happen in MMA, but is this line set right?

Sounds about right.

If the Marinovich's can do for him what they did to BJ, Guida is ****ed. The last two Edgar fights will do him so much good, it really showed he needs to improve his boxing defense and if he gets his cardio like BJ's was back when BJ was the baddest mother****er on the planet that weighed 155 lbs I think Maynard will take that belt.

sounds about right to me. Guida is a gamer but he isn't gonna outwreslte Gray and if Maynard caught Edgar he can catch Guida.

I'd bet on Guida if I thought he had a chance.

Those are really good odds for Clay, a heavy handed wrestler taking on a guy who just lost his title fight. And it's a five round fight against a guy that gasses after three. Yeah I'm betting big on Clay.

Sounds fit to me. If its a 5 rounder then Guida has a much better chance. Guida has a good chin and won't gas. Maynard is the more skilled fighter. Winner vs Pettis.

I'll bet on Guida, but I also feel that those are realistic odds.

Heavy handed? He's got 1 TKO in the last 8 years, i cant even remember him rocking anybody. He can swing with the best of them, but he hasnt got any power in my opinion.

He's rocked Edgar about seven times.

He meant Guida. 'Taking on a guy who just lost his title fight'. I don't get that though. Guida isn't heavy handed at all.

Be nice to see Guida get the win here! I think he only hope is to gas Maynard quickly by getting punched a lot though
