Frank Mir might be my favorite guy to listen to next to Sonnen. Only different is Sonnen can sometimes tire me out with his bullshit while Frank Mir never has that effect on me.
Mir is my fav Heavyweight. He is extremely intelligent. I think he can sub JDS if he can get him down. It would make my year if Sonnen and Mir both end up with titles. The only thing that would make that even better would be if Hendo wins also. The fact that 3 of my favorite fighters in those weight classes are fighting for the belt in the next few months is awesome! 1 happy fan here. that is all.
I dont disagree with Mir getting the shot, but he is going to sleep. He will not be able to get JDS down and he is in over his head in the striking department.
JDS also has added motivation to KO Mir since Mir KOd Big Nog and broke his arm. He is going to want some payback for Big Nog.
I think Frank is well-spoken and I like him as a fighter but I really think he's biting off more than he can chew. Granted, you'd have to be crazy to turn down a shot at the HW strap, but I think JDS is way more than he can handle. Mir doesn't have the extraordinairy chin needed to eat shots from JDS, and I think JDS is going to be able to keep him at range and nail him with shots until he shuts the lights off. While Frank's BJJ is sick, he's never had overly impressive takedowns and JDS is a big, athletic guy who is really going to fight each and every takedown.
I don't see how Mir can win this, Big Nog practically KO'd him with a jab.. So unless JDS makes the same mistake Nog did (stopped punching, went for a sub), I can't see Mir winning.
But then again, stranger things have happened....

Can someone give me a rundown on what he said about JDS and Overeem? Damn fueltv hasn't made this available in Europe.
He was asked about the differences between Cain and jds, and going from a 3 round fight to a five round fight. Mir responds that jds has less threats than Cain, because cain will punch/kick/take down where as jds is one large (larger threat) threat which is his boxing, which Mir says is likely the best in the division. He is then asked if jds is holding a grudge because of Mir submitting nog, he says that jds will be focused on holding onto the title and that he might be nervous because nog is his bjj coach and Mir submitted him.
When asked about overeem Mir said he thinks people should be given a second chance and he hoped overeem gets over this situation.
That's what I remember from watching it 20min ago
