i dont really buy the well rounded monsters with stamina thing to be honest. who actually fits that description in retrospect? carwin? lesnar? ubereem?
it seems to be a power/speed+stamina trade off between the two divisions and historically the best of both divisions has comparable amounts of both. the best heavies just had more so. cro cop v wandy would be a good example of this.
wandy could beat quite a few sapps i imagine, but against someone like cro cop, he is facing a guy that basically hits that little bit harder.
as for the heavyweight jones option...itd be cool to see him do a silva and fight a can and then a guy measured for his strengths if things dry up at lhw. maybe just experimentally. but the trouble is it may be hard to go back down and the downside is if he loses, it discredits the name. if he got ktfo by mark hunt for instance, where does that leave the light heavyweight division. only a few months ago i remember sherdog radio saying how jones would tool hunt or ben rothwell. they were specifically cited as crap heavyweights that jones would walk through. since their fight schaub and kongo have been knocked into stupidity by these guys.
imagine if that conceit had been played out by dana and these live dogs had bitten his poster boy. perhaps unjustly we would be left with a joke for a light heavyweight division. it doesnt matter that mousassi no less has a vic against hunt. it doesnt matter than some of the light heavy weights could potentially beat a few heavies. the king of the lhws would be getting his jaw wired and ufc would have a ghost division by proxy.
