Is it just me or is the UFC really pushing for Urijah Faber to become champion. This is like his third undeserved title shot I think. He's worse then BJ Penn.

Who else was worthy to challenge for the title at the time the fight was booked?

Barao should get the call up. Honestly I think Dominick is an easier match up for Renan as he likes to keep it standing, bobs and weaves a lot (Barao has the best flying knee in the business) and has pretty weak BJJ. Faber is a strong wrestler that is very hard to sub. Tough matchup but I think Renan will stuff the TD and outstrike Urijah. Fight him like Aldo did.

His cardio will need to be top notch.

No one hates Faber more than me but he did just demolish Bowles, to say he doesn't deserve a title shot is a bit insane considering how easily he dispatched Bowles.

All that said no one at Bantamweight has anything for Cruz, Bowles has been tooled, Faber's been tooled, Benavidez and Johnson were ran out of 135 and Jorgensen also got his. Faber was soundly out-struck and out grappled for Cruz and the same thing would have happened if Cruz hadn't fought.

If Cruz returns from his injury in tip top shape he's going to go right back to clowning everyone for 25 minutes.

Maybe your right. Don't hate the guy its just it seems like hes getting title shot after title shot after 1 or 2 fights. Like you said thier really is no one else and the bantamweight division is pretty thin. Sort of like the lightweight division when Sherk became champion.

The guy has 4 title fights within the span of 3 years. His rematch against Brown and the fight against Aldo were absolute gifts, only his shot at Cruz was somewhat earned. The rematch however, again, a gift. That basically tells you that the guy is obviously marketable.
