Johnny Hendricks cleared to fight, ready for UFC Title Shot or another fight.

Quote:
The eye injury that made Johny Hendricks (13-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) see double during a fight with Josh Koscheck is already a concern of the past.

Hendricks was inadvertently poked by Koscheck (17-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC) in the first round of their fight at UFC on FOX 3, and he received an indefinite suspension pending an opthalmological exam.

But the fighter recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) that he's been cleared to fight. Now, the issue is when he'll do so.

As Hendricks earlier told MMAjunkie.com, a title fight is a lottery ticket he'd like to cash, even if that means waiting for the winner of Georges St-Pierre vs. Carlos Condit.

The fight, which promises to unify St-Pierre's undisputed title with Condit's interim strap, is targeted for November but by no means confirmed. And there are more than a few welterweights who might have something to say about Hendricks getting first crack, including Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann, who meet on June 1 at The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale.

http://mmajunkie.com/news/28476/ufc-...ght-ladder.mma

Hendricks could be on the bench a minimum of 11 months as the title picture sorts itself out, but that's not a prospect that daunts him.

On the other hand, he's willing to step up earlier if he and his managers reach a "mutual understanding" with the UFC.

"I'm a UFC fighter," Hendricks said. "I'm paid to fight. I'm not paid to say this or that. I want something, but that might not be the best thing for me.

"That's where my management group and (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva and the UFC, that's what they do. I'm paid to fight. You tell me when and where and I'm going to be doing it."

Hendricks earned another key win with a split decision nod over Koscheck at this month's event, which fell short of ratings expectations, but advanced the welterweight and lightweight divisions. The event saw Nate Diaz crowned a contender with a submission of Jim Miller in the headliner.

Prior to besting Koscheck, Hendricks delivered a blistering 12-second knockout of top-ranked Jon Fitch at UFC 141. Unbeaten in all but one professional bout, "Bigg Rigg" trains in Arlington, Texas, under the eye of veteran trainer Mark Laimon and others.

Hopefully by "mutual agreement" they mean a fight with the winner of Ellenberger/Kampmann, Ellenberger/Hendricks would be ******* intense. Two heavy handed wrestlers throwing down, would love to see it.

Hendricks needs to fight ATLEAST once more, the top of the WW division is on pause right now, and even if GSP/Condit happens Nov 17, a title fight for Hendricks won't realistically happen until late March, early April...thats if it happens due to the rumblings of a Stadium show in January.

So the logical choice is the winner of Ellenberger/Kampmann,

Ideally make it the co-main event on GSP/Condit, that way if whatever reason GSP has a knee flare-up, you can give the nod to Hendricks or Ellenberger/Kampmann, the interim belt can be on the line, the division continues to move forward.

I agree with him getting the winner of Ellenberger/Kampmann as well.

In other words, as soon Dana shows him some money, his ready to go. Can't blame him, a loss would derail him greatly.. might as well make some money.

Needs to fight Rory, they are both free so no one is on the shelf. If Hendricks can beat Rory the okay, he's up there, if Rory can beat Hendricks it's time to start talking Rory needs a top 3 guy.

Hendricks just got lucky and was the guy that finally caught Fitch, it was bound to happen and he got an on his way out Kos. Both of those guys were at the top for a long time, but it's a changing of the guard and they are both on the way down. Hendricks doesn't deserve a title shot for beating them.

I guess you can argue that Hendricks is top 5, not top 3,

in no particular order

GSP
Condit
Diaz

Hendricks
Ellenberger

Koscheck
Fitch
Kampmann
Alves
Penn
Brenneman
MacDonald
Story
Sanchez
Hathaway
Silva

Rory, should be brought along slowly, much like Hendricks 8-1 in Ufc (Sadollah, Funch, Grant, Brenneman, Story, Walburger, Pierce, Fitch, Koscheck) and Ellenberger 6-1 in Ufc (Condit, Pyle, Howard, Rocha, Pierson, Shields, Sanchez) have been.

MacDonald 4-1 in Ufc (Guymon, Condit, Diaz, Pyle, Mills) hasn't had the wins over Fitch #2 at the time, Koscheck #4 at the time, Shields #3 at the time.

Let Macdonald fight an Ebersole, Sanchez, Hathaway, Story,

-Ellenberger/Kampmann loser - June 1, 2012
-Silva/Brenneman winner - June 8, 2012
-Story if he wins - June 22, 2012
-Ebersole if he wins - June 22, 2012
-Kim/Maia winner - July 7, 2012

or a Sanchez or Hathaway as mentioned. MacDonald needs to fight by Sept 22 (Ufc 152 in Toronto) any later is too long of a layoff, Alves/Siyar winner is a long wait.

Good that he is willing to step up if needed.

I really thought he is going sit out until after GSP/Condit. Give him the winner of Ellenberger/Kampmann for a title eliminator match.

I would rather him fight the winner of Kampmann/Ellenberger. It nails down a clear contender after Condit/GSP. With Rory openly saying no to fighting GSP, I am not really excited for him to become a contender and have them dancing around each other like Fitch and Koscheck have been.

Sounds like his manager fully told him to STFU!!! I would seriously hate to manage someone like this guy. A flash KO and a split decision and he's putting himself on the self for a title shot?! Uh no... get your ass back out there.

Hope he fights the winner of Ellenberger Kampmann. Has Rory McDonald got another fight set yet? That could be a fun one.
