An undisclosed injury has forced Paul Taylor (11-6-1 MMA, 4-5 UFC) from the main card of UFC on FUEL TV 4, which takes place July 11 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the change with a source close to the event.
Fighters Only recently reported Rafael dos Anjos (16-6 MMA, 5-4 UFC) has stepped in as Taylor's replacement and now meets fellow lightweight Anthony Njokuani (15-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC).
UFC on FUEL TV 4's main card airs on FUEL TV, and Facebook streams the prelims.
Taylor had hoped to continue his winning ways after a flashy knockout of Gabe Ruediger at UFC 126 that reversed a two-fight skid. However, injuries have kept him out of action since that February 2011 bout.
Dos Anjos makes a quick turnaround after a first-round submission victory over Kamal Shalorus this past week at UFC on FUEL TV 3. The Brazilian has hopscotched between wins and losses in his past four outings while earning a first-round knockout win over George Sotiropoulos and slipping against Clay Guida and Gleison Tibau.
The Shalorus win put dos Anjos' overall UFC record above .500 at 5-4.
At this past month's UFC 145 event, Njokuani outstruck fellow standup specialist John Makdessi en route to a unanimous-decision victory, which put him back on the right track after a split-decision loss to Danny Castillo at UFC 141. Since migrating from the now-defunct WEC, Njokuani has alternated between losses and wins over four fights.
