Brian Stann injured, out of UFC on FOX 4

Quote:
August's UFC on FOX 4 event needs a new headliner.

Middleweight Brian Stann (12-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is out of his scheduled five-round middleweight headliner with promotional newcomer Hector Lombard (31-2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) due to an injury.

A source close to the event today confirmed the scratch with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), though the UFC has made no official announcement.

UFC on FOX 4 takes place Aug. 4 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event's main card airs live on FOX while prelims go to FUEL TV and Facebook.

It was not immediately clear if Lombard, the reigning Bellator middleweight champion and a recent UFC import, will remain on the card and in the night's network-televised main event.

Stann recently picked up his fourth win in five fights with a first-round knockout via ground and pound of Alessio Sakara at UFC on FUEL TV 2. Prior to the victory, the former WEC light-heavyweight champion snapped a three-fight win streak (over Mike Massenzio, Chris Leben and Jorge Santiago) and potentially cost himself a title shot with a second-round submission loss to upcoming title challenger Chael Sonnen. A win over Lombard could have gotten him right back into title contention.

Who now for Lombard ?

LL you always seem to get the run on when a fighters' injured.

Now this one sucks ballz...cuz that's guaranteed KO of the night pretty much for either or. My guess Belcher will step in.

Roflz...you posted this article exactly the same time as the other OP.

Yes, I'm the bearer of bad news unfortunately. lol

Belcher would be a great replacement, but I don't know when his hand will be ready to go, he ****ed it up in the Palhares fight, some people said it's broken and if that's the case I don't think he can make an August 4th card.

Shields, Bisping, Munoz, or Weidman has to be the replacement.

Awww this SUCKS! Was really looking forward to this fight. Belcher seems to be the only contendor without a fight, so i reckon he'll step in. Or maybe they'll pull Bisping from his fight with Boetsch to fight Lombard.

Damn...did he really jack it up on Toquino's head. That would be a sick matchup and winner for sure gets the title shot.

Probably would go with Munoz, but I just know the type of fight that's gonna transpire; takedowns, gnp, etc. Bisping would be entertaining, but will not bode well for the TUF alumni.

*NOTE* Just realized Lombard is on a 24 win streak...holy craps!

1st option: Belcher if healthy.

2nd option: Vitor if he is healthy by then.

I like either of these fight as much, if not more than the Stann fight. They are both better fighters than Stann.
