Silva vs Franklin 1 Free Rewatch

Catchweight at 195 at Franklinweight

It's on the UFC website. Cool little treat to hype the second fight.

Thought I'd share.

Thanks! Great fight. Anyone know if they are doing 5 rounds this time?

This just reminds me of the old era of UFC, where fighters had worse technique, cardio, and athleticism. These guys have no business headlining a PPV in this day and age, and I think the sooner this era finishes retiring the better off the UFC will be.

You can neg rep me if you'll like, but if I was the UFC or it's fighters, I could do without a fan like you.

I don't even really like those two, but they were both champions, have accomplished a lot in this sport, and in my eyes, deserve to be headlining a card for all the work and effort they put into this sport.

Therefore, I totally, disagree with everything you just mentioned.

If you are part of the "new era" of the UFC, I want nothing to do with it.

Would you rather watch some wrestler lnp his way to a UD? These guys are legends. Their technique is still better than 85% of their divisions (or better), including "new era" guys.

No I would rather watch Jon Jones shred your old heroes like Rampage and Shogun to pieces. Technique is better than 85% of their divisions? Wanderlei was swinging like a wild monkey against Franklin, and that was years ago! These guys are lucky to have been champions in an infant sport, if they had entered the sport 10 years from now nobody would ever know who they are. That's how every sport is, more money and publicity attracts better talent. I know it's hard to emotionally accept the fact that your "heroes" aren't the best, but get over it.

Franklin should still be decently ranked. He has an awesome record and his only losses were to Forrest Griffin, Vitor Belfort, Dan Henderson (many thought he won that fight), Lyoto Machida and Andersn Silva x2. He is still very competitive so I don't get why people talk as if his career is over.

I strongly disagree because you assume that they would have the same skills they do now. The thing that upsets me the most about what you posted is that you discount the things that made them champions, their drive and heart. These guys didn't hold belts just because they were better, it was because they trained harder, they fought through more, they had wars and battles! Franklin KO'ed Liddell with a broken arm, and Wandy had a 3 round war with Hendo in his prime (and the first round was 10 minutes) that would have ended most fighters in the first round.

I agree that I enjoy watching JBJ and this new crop of fighters. They are doing new stuff all the time showing the evolution of the sport as a whole. But to write off living legends and pioneers because they didn't get to practice since they were six like a lot of the newer fighters is ridiculous.

I would love to see that rematch now. That fight happened so long ago and outside the UFC.
