Herb Dean and that's it. Rosenthal has more bad calls than good. People talk about how he lets fights go on longer than other referees do but they only bring up the few good calls that he has. They never bring up the fights where a fighter has gone unconscious or has taken a beaten that he shouldn't have. Pretty much every call he makes is a late stoppage.
EDIT: Forgot about Yamasaki. Don't think I've ever disagreed with a call of his.

Surprised Mario Yamasaki isn't getting more love. I can't think of many situations I've been disappointed with him in. Everyone makes mistakes here and there.
My two preferred are Mario Yamasaki and Herb Dean, also Big John I can't recall making consistent errors.

Fernando is Mario's brother I remember him reffing fights at UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson, and both brothers had some really questionable reffing that night.

I think the most common referees (Herb, Rosenthal, McCarthy etc.) are all generally good at there jobs because they have a lot of experience now and know how to handle certain situations, its the newer refs that have the most problems, i find a lot of them dont even know the rules or understand what is going on a lot of the time.
If i had to pick the best ref id probably go with Josh.

Herb and Big John are the obvious ones. Rosenthal is pretty good as well. He was great in the Silva - Sonnen fight. The only thing he could have done better was to DQ Sonnen for unsportsmanlike conduct. Fake tapping is NOT cool.

Yamasaki would get a vote, but I still remember the Erick Silva DQ with disdain.
Herb Dean and Rosanthal get the vote from me.

Hah, yea, guess that's what you learn when you train with Lindland.

big john was the best for a long time without a doubt, with his long absence from the UFC i think herb dean really stepped up and its hard to pick between them now.
