He was a beast back in the day, totally deserved. Those Shamrock fights were HUGE business for that era of the UFC....good for Tito!

Eh, it's fine that he's going in because I think he sets the standard a fighter needs to reach to be a "hall of famer" but man so many more deserving people should be in.

How can anyone think Tito doesn't deserve it? The guy is one of the biggest Icons in the history of the sport. He set the bar in a lot of ways as far as the UFC we see today. He may have been hated at one time but his charisma sold fights and he was as big a draw as the sport had ever seen for a long time. There isn't a valid reason outside of blind hate that you could use to make an argument or justification to keep Tito out.

Thanks to Tito for that career of his that has been fun to watch, here's the video of Dana announcing it:

I can see why they're announcing it before his fight with Forrest instead of right after, btw.

No, theres actually no one more deserving currently of going in than Tito. He was a defining champion, had legendary feuds with Shamrock and Chuck, and has been an icon of the sport since the UFC was just a fledgling business struggling for sales. MMA and the UFC were built off of the backs of guys like Chuck, Tito and Randy, all of which are now in the HOF. Awesome.

He's barely in top ten light heavyweights of all time. He basically made his career beating middleweights, he was the third best LHW in the UFC at the time of his career. For him to go into the hall of fame ahead of Frank Shamrock, Don Frye, Rampage Jackson, Kenny Florian, Frank Mir, Big Nog, and Dan Henderson is insane. Tank Abbott is an "icon" that sold fights but he isn't a hall of famer.

Florian and Henderson never even held the UFC Title, Tito did and defended it five times, more than anyone ever has although Jones will probably smash that record.

Not like Tito gets to pick and choose which era he fought in, but he's the guy who kept the UFC alive when they were scrapping by, he's fallen on hard times but he's certainly deserving of a HOF spot.

But where would the UFC be without the Ortiz/Shamrock fights? They made the UFC!
