Your right, Glover is a tough mofo. And if he did beat Shogun, it says more about him than it does Shogun. Shogun doesn't have to prove a thing. He's a top 5 lhw regardless

Yeah, I think if I were in his shoes, I'd rather potentially lose to a guy some people are hyping up to be a star, rather than a guy who barely beat a now retired BJJ fighter standing, and is known for getting elbowed in the eye socket by Jones, and getting his back drummed by Silva. There's no way he could justify getting beat by Vera if he does, where as if Glover beat him, the hype machine would hype Glover up as the next challenger for Jones and Shogun's stock wouldn't go down as much. He could easily still remain in the top 10.

Shogun should beat Vera without much problems, so this is probably irrelevant, but there's always that chance. To this day, I still refuse to watch Chuck's fight against Jardine. I have no desire too.

Top 3 Favorite Fighters
1. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell
2. Glover Teixeira
3. Demian Maia

“They asked me to fight Glover. My manager told me and then I talked to my team and we decided not to fight Glover because he’s a top guy but, but he’s building a career in the UFC. He fought once and it was on an undercard, so it’s not fair. I made it clear that it wasn’t interesting for us now. But in a while it may happen, but not now,” said Rua in an interview with TATAME, implying the issue was with Teixeira’s lack of mainstream recognition as opposed to any fear about facing his fellow Brazilian.
“If I defeated him I wouldn’t reach a level of having a chance at the title. He’s a top guy, but he just got here and doesn’t have a history in the UFC. Three, four fights from now it’s possible, but not now,” Rua continued before addressing White’s statements. “Dana White commented I rather leave UFC than fighting him but it was not true. UFC never thought about it (and) neither did I. At (no) point I said I would leave in case I fought him. I just said it was not interesting right now and that’s why we had our agreement. This conversation never happened.”
I normally like Dana but this looks really bad.

But at least Vera is a name. I had no idea who Glover was before his last fight and I consider myself a pretty hard core MMA fan.

I think Shogun knows he's at the tail end of his career and it would be smart for him to start picking his fights. He doesn't wanna get cut from the UFC before he retires, I'm sure.

Seriously. It's hard to even comment on things he says most of the time now because they are usually misleading in some way.
