I suppose head trauma also accounts for putting on like 30 lbs of lean muscle in 6 months while on a full muscle atrophying MMA training regimen.

Just because Rogan uses TRT he's trying to defend everyone that does.

Thats exactly it. Rogan may be right with his theory, but whos to say the doctors opinion is wrong? Rogan is suspiciously pro TRT these days.

Chael himself said, in testimony to the CSAC, that he (and I quote) "never went through puberty". I.e. he is claiming to have it had it all along, just not diagnosed until 2008.

All he's saying here is that the likelihood of necessity is lass than 1 in 50 or 1 in 100. That's it. He makes some comments toward the end of Part 1 that were obviously generalizations about why guys in MMA are getting TUE's, but says nothing specifically about Mir there. Almost all of Benjamin's comments on roids with any specificity were directed at Chael Sonnen:

Notice how almost all of Dr Benjamin's comments are about Chael, but Joe doesn't defend Chael? Instead latches onto the handful of words about the probability in Mir's case. That's because a) Joe knows Chael roided himself to no-gonad-ness and b) Joe doesn't like Johnny Benjamin because of his comments over racism in MMA in the past (in fact that was Joe's first post in the UG thread in question- not about head trauma or Mir or roids... about Dr Benjamin's article on racism... if you look at the thread it's totally out of left field). I am a huge Rogan fan but in this case Rogan is being disingenuous. He makes some good points about head trauma but making it personal about Dr Benjamin's motives is silly. Johnny Benjamin is basically correct. In fact in the original thread, Joe actually says he agrees that Chael probably could not have competed at the level of collegiate wrestling he did if he had been suffering from hypogonadism as he claims he was.
Who cares about who he's talking about? He's still spreading misinformation and to do that as a doctor is extremely irresponsible. I guarantee you plenty of people take his word on most of the stuff he says instead of researching it themselves.

I honestly don't understand how you can say this as a doctor without even treating the patient you're talking about.

If he has hypogonadism, it's from one thing, and one thing only, because he treated himself with steroids in the past, and wrecked his testes. That's it.

Hahah whoa. He is NOT spreading misinformation. What Dr Benjamin said is accurate. Few people should need TRT at these ages.

I hate to reiterate the doctor's argument but there is no way in hell Chael was a successful NCAA wrestler and then a successful MMA fighter at the top tier of the sport without going through puberty. You don't need to actually be Chael's doctor to put 2 and 2 together here- and if you watch the CSAC hearing you'll realize Chael's doctor was a clueless patsy anyway. He knew less about endocrinology than me.

I typically don't believe doctors that personally attack athletes and claim they are 100% sure about someones condition without even diagnosing them personally. But hey, to each their own.

Whatever floats your boat, buddy. Chael needs his fanclub.

I couldn't care less about Chael. I even said "who cares who he's talking about".

My problem is the way in which this doctor conducts himself.
