I don't know whether to feel bad for Struve or congratulate em. He's always stuck in these dog fights. He puts on a good win streak then falters, wins again then takes a step down in the ladder. I really put a lot of stock in this kid. He's a born fighter, but I think he could benefit from a solid camp with new trainers to open his mind. He's got huge amounts of potential and once he beefs up he'll be an even bigger threat in the standing department or on the ground.

He can't quite seem to breakthrough yet to contendership status.

Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic tapped UFC on FUEL TV 5 headliner

A heavyweight clash between Stefan Struve (24-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) and Stipe Miocic (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has been tapped the headliner for UFC on FUEL TV 5.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed verbal agreements are in for the card's main event, which was first reported by ESPN's Gareth Davies and takes place Sept. 29 at Capital FM Arena, a 10,000-seat venue in Nottingham, England.

As MMAjunkie.com first reported, the event's main card airs on FUEL TV with prelims on Facebook.

The UFC recently announced the card, which also is dubbed "UFC: Nottingham." It marks the UFC's first trip to the city.

Both Herman and Miocic headline a UFC card for the first time.

Despite being just 24, the 6-foot-11 Struve has racked up 11 UFC appearances, which include eight victories, three "Submission of the Night" bonuses, and a current three-fight win streak. Most recently, the Dutch fighter tapped out Lavar Johnson in just 65 seconds at UFC 146. He's now 5-1 over his past six fights, which also include stoppage wins over Dave Herman and Pat Barry.

Miocic, meanwhile, recently kept his perfect record intact and picked up his third consecutive UFC win with a second-round TKO of Strikeforce import Shane Del Rosario at UFC 146. Prior to that, the Ohio-based fighter and former collegiate wrestler and baseball player earned a decision victory over Joey Beltran and a knockout win over Phil De Fries. The 29-year-old is just a little more than two years into his pro career.

The latest UFC on FUEL TV 5 card includes:
Stipe Miocic vs. Stefan Struve
Yves Jabouin vs. Brad Pickett
Akira Corassani vs. Andy Ogle
Paul Sass vs. TBA*

DAMN I guess the UFC didn't get the TV deal they wanted over here if this ia the ME. Aiside from that its a fight I like. Want Miocic to get the W. He could be a top HW if he continues to improve like he has been. Arrive has shown he won't be a top HW. Not because he lacks the skill but because he lacks the fight intelligence to be.

A fairly terrible main event, whats the point of a five round format if you are going to put Stefan Struve up against a finisher like Miocic. This is either going to be a quick sub by Struve or a brutal KO by Miocic likely in the first round. My hope is that the injury big takes Miocic out and we get Cheick Kongo in this main event. Five rounds of Struve/Kongo that would be an f'n fight, Struve's grappling vs Kongo's clinch work, both men with weak chins but solid boxing.

I suppose they are thinking what's one more title contender for the HW division give Stipe a chance to fight for five rounds. But if they are going to do that give him Travis Browne, Ben Rothwell, or Mark Hunt...guys that won't break in a damn round.

Lowest ticket price is £75 for this shitty headliner, are they joking?! Not hating on the fight - i like it and it should be a fun fight, but its co-headliner at best, even for a FUEL card. UFC hates the UK lol!
