Maynard files complaint about Guida's hair

Clay Guida is one of the most exciting fighters in mixed martial arts, with six "Fight of the Night" bonuses to prove it. But if you say the name "Clay Guida" the onet thing that comes to mind first for many.

The Hair.

When work began on the first UFC Undisputed game, Guida's hair kept him out of the first release (technology apparently caught up; he was added in the 2010 release).

UFC President Dana White offered him $10,000 to cut it. But The Hair stayed where it is.

Now, following a formal complaint by Gray Maynard with the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board for the UFC on FX 4 fight next Friday in Atlantic City, the hair is going to locked up, in braids.

John Fosco, Guida's manager and president of VFD Sports, on Friday told that Maynard filed the request with the commission roughly a month ago – and that his client has decided to comply, which the New Jersey commission confirmed.

"Clay chose to avoid any distractions and simply complied," Fosco told "Clay will be braiding his hair back. Clay is not focused on this and has one objective: winning. Nothing will distract him from his goal."

Under the Unified Rules of MMA, individual commissions are allowed to rule on "whether head or facial hair presents any hazard to the safety of the unarmed combatant or his opponent or will interfere with the supervision and conduct of the contest or exhibition."

In the case of Maynard and Guida, Nick Lembo, counsel for the NJSACB, said a hearing was avoided when Guida agreed to Maynard's request.

"He doesn't want to do it, and I don't believe he's 100 percent happy about it, but he's being very understanding and very cooperative about it and he agreed to it," Lembo told "Otherwise, if he said, 'No, I'm not going to do that,' we'd have to have a hearing on it and let both sides present their case and have a commissioner's ruling on the issue."

If I was Clay Guida I would just show up to the fight without my hair braided. What are they gonna do, have an emergency hearing right when the fight starts? Loopholes FTW!

I think it'll be a good thing for him. I've had hair nearly as long as his and it's major nuisance in any sport.

What's the point of that? Honestly, I think he just did it to distract Clay from the fight a little.

Give More.
Give everything.
Give blood.

A neighbor of mine who fought in England can't even remember his name told me he use to not shower and shave before his fights...JUST to annoy his opponents. There's many cases of this apparently; Fitch, Matt Lindland, etc. It's nasty shiet and it would piss me off to no end...lolz!

True story.

Got a good laugh at this though...haha!

Marcus Aurelius: Tell me again, Maximus, why are we here?
Maximus: For the glory of the Empire, sire.

Baked, not fried... the healthy choice.

IMO it poses more of a distraction to Clay than anyone else.
