Fights that made a fighter look better or worse then he actually is?

First one that comes to mind is shogun vs jones.

Jones is an amazing striker but he got outstruck by machida and I think that a in shape shogun would as well. But the first shogun fight made jones look like he was completely on a different level on the ground (what he was) and on the feet (in my opinion what he isn't).

you guys know any good ones?

Nick Diaz Vs. Joe Riggs and all the Nick and Nate decision losses where wrestlers lay on them for an arguable decision.

well if we're talking Nick Diaz then we have to go w/Nick Diaz vs Carlos Condit. This was Nick Diaz thinking he had control the whole match and never attempted to chase a running Condit and instead just made the gestures 'look I want to fight and this guy wont fight me', that was poor by Diaz standards.

I love Jones but i think he has an insane advantage having such lanky limbs (and sure he has good technical ability) but it makes him look so much better than he is imo.

Frank Mir's fight against Big Nog. Favourite reversal probably ever but yeah. Also had I not witnessed the Bigfoot fight I would have said Cain against Brock looked better than he was. Instead I'll say Cain looked worse than he was against JDS.

Obviously if you want to talk about fights where the fighter looked way better than he is, how can we not say Sonnen against Silva. That was the fight of his life and then an excellent display against Stann followed by a dodgy performance vs Bisping (though Bisping was good there).

I can't think of anything too obvious after that.

made look worse.

fedor by infinity. three fights that are all so obviously ridiculous.

shogun v coleman with the arm break.

any fight where a good guy actually got caught by a punchers chance. nog v sod...

fights that made people look better than they were...

possibly brock v mir. well never know tho, so il opt to go with the theory that brock is or was all that.

also every wonderboyesque demolishion of stomp matches that turned up to get paid/or were hopelessly outclassed.

Every fight Mike Swick won "quickly" made him look better than he really was. I'm a fan of the guy, but he blitzkreiged a few scrubs and became a world beater over night.

Dan Hardy Vs. Lytle. That was pretty much a stale mate of a match, until half way through the last round Dan started to turn up the pressure and we immediately saw who the superior striker was... then like an idiot, he goes for a shot. It made him look dumb, but certainly not a sub par fighter.

Edson Barboza vs Jamie Varner

Joe and mike screaming Jamies back, no joe he just got lucky! 9 times out of 10 Edson would have that in the bag. Look forward to watching Jamie lose his next fight.
