Jardine fought Forrest in 06 before he won the title and fought Rampage and Liddell after they held the belts. Think that's what he means.

That's 3 former or soon to be UFC champions, a Pride legend, and a bunch of tough dudes.

...Yeah. I tend to agree. Jardine himself is a highlight reel of KO losses. Then you look at Jon Jones. The top 5 LHW's have been fed to this savage young lion and he's walked through them with relative ease. Some ask for tough fights. Lesnar had tough fights. Even Guida has been in some nasty wars...

Brock Lesnar never had an easy fight in the UFC, Kampmann is always in wars, but the guy with the most difficult fights has to be Akiyama. Not even champions have as many difficult fights as the sexy one.

Too bad no one is mentioning Shogun...
Forrest, coleman (this one's an exception but shogun wanted revenge), chuck, machida 2x, jones, hendo.
LOL and soon the notorious vera will be on an his resume as well.
And its even more impressive when your looking at his losses: first machida fight cotnroversial, hendo fight was also very close and theres no shame in losing to jones.

As much as I love Shogun, I lost so much respect for him when he chose to fight Vera over Glover. It's pathetic really, you can't gain anything by fighting one guy yet can against Vera, a guy who's been on a suck streak for quite some time.
Also Chuck wasn't a tough fight at that point, everyone already figured out his style and how to beat him and his now glassjaw.

I understand where your coming from.
But now put yourself in shogun's shoe's...
one of your options is an up and comer who had one ufc fight and who's best name on his resumé is Kyle Kingsbury.
On the other hand you have an fighter who's going down hill but has (kind of) a name in the mma world.
Shogun never has been the type do avoid fights anyway but No matter how you look at it, at this point shogun would be the favorite on both of them so i doubt he's scared.
BTW chucks chin may have started to go down when he faced shogun but his punches and kicks will always be dangerous (ask franklins arm) xD

True man true. Maybe vera comes out looking better then he's ever been and it ends up being a 5 round war too. And if not I'll still enjoy another Shogun highlight for the reel.

Franklin comes to mind.
Hendo comes to mind.
Roy Nelson gets a lot of top fights even though he has never been considered an elite HW. And has spent a lot of his career outside the top 10.

One guy that we never talk about as fighting top competition, Forrest Griffin I believe he's been the underdog in every fight save for Tito since 2007...that's amazing.
