He is all the time active at at least trying to submit the other guy. That has become quite rare at MW and above. Look at former submission artist Demian Maia. If I remember correct, instead of turning the fight into a grappling match after hitting the floor with Weidman he used his BJJ to stand up again. Palhares still tries to submit. So even though he doesn't submit everyone on the fly, he puts all of his opponents at least in danger to be submitted by him.
I agree. Like I said, he's entertaining. I've wanted to see him improve and take out some big names. I really have. But after all this time, he's not going anywhere. Hes not really getting any better. At least, not at any pace.

I really don't enjoy speaking ill of fighters who I respect and enjoy. But in this case, I cant ever see Paul being a top 10 guy.

I don't think people should write Palhares off yet, he's only lost to three top ten MW's and has yet to beat one. You know who else has lost to three top ten MW's and has yet to beat one.

Michael Bisping.

Bisping isn't that great either, no one thinks of him as a contender as far as I know, except Chael haters.

Yeah but you can't say Bisping isn't a top ten guy without the masses flipping out. The only difference between Bisping and Palhares is that Bisping can fights are main events and Palhares are prelim's. I'll say this both of the MW Brazilian ultimate fighter guys would be great fights for him. One guy is a top BJJ guy with a questionable chin, the other is a massive looking guy with a sweet guillotine and skinny legs.

I love me some Palhares. But on the other hand not sure if he will ever be a top 5 guy. I think he WILL get into the top 10 at some point. But obviously not rigt now.

He needs to change his game. His leg locks are a tool that is tricky for any fighter to stop. But he can't just heel hook all guys like nothing. He has to realize that. He should really work on his wresting and cardio. He should try to get top control and attack something other than a leg. I know his BJJ is good enough to sub guys with many different locks. And his wrestling really is pretty solid. His strength and leverage make him able to pick up a lot of guys if he gets deep enough on the double leg.

He just can't go for broke in getting a ankle each time. He ends up with it many of the times, but he leaves himself in terrible positions if he doesn't.
