Grappler's Just Can't Get It Done

The grappler's era of the UFC is over. They just can't seem to get it done anymore. In time, the pendulem will have to swing back and grappling will make its return, we can be sure of that. No doubt The biggest fight of 2007 and possibly one of the best of all time will be Anderson Silva vs. Rich Franklin. It's going to happen and I can taste it.

I think grapplers do fine in the ufc. They are most famous for there ground and pound..Ex matt hughes. And Joe stevenson and diego are grapplers and they can handle themselves. BUt thats Just my opinion

I agree, without grappling MMA is not MMa it would be kickboxing. A fighter without grappling skills in the UFC is a lost cause.

at least half of the fighters in the ufc are grappling speacialists..i dont know where u get ur facts..and look in pride all the greats are grapplers, fedor, the nogs, arona, sakuraba, fujita, hendo..grapplers are far from done...for the mmost part they are the elite

u cant do crap w/out any wrestling or grappeling skills in UFC, even if u dont know how to shoot, or whatever, u at least have to have a strategy on how to defend against it

Based on what evidence?

Randy Coture(One of the best UFC fighters ever) Matt Hughes(Greatest welter weight) Babalu(10 wins in a row) Fedor(In most eye's best fighter in the world right now) Yoshida(A very good winning record) Sakuraba(A Legend) Nog's(In the Top 5 best fighters in the world) Werdum Sean Sherk Sanchez Stevenson BJ Penn. TITO ORTIZ

You need to be a well rounded fighter like all of these guys are but they are known for the grappling they use.

I will elaborate. Stand up some - what dominated when Royce came in, then everyone hopped onto Brazillian Jujitsu, then it bacame a grappler's game. Chuck Liddell, Rich Franklin and Tim Sylvia are turning the tables ( not to mention Arlovski, W Silva, A silva, and Griffin ). Many will be attracted to striking, at which point grappler's will gain the edge back. There are soooooo many great grappler's right now, but striker's seem to have an edge right now. At no point did I ever say there are no good grappler's, and at no point did I ever say you don't need to have grappling skills ( they are paramount in MMA ), I only hold the OPINION that strikers are on top right now.

Grappler's are always going to have the edge on strikers. Once the striker is off his feet and out of his element, then the grappler will dominate. In the UFC it's not about grapplers and strikers, it's about who is the most well rounded fighter.
