UFC 147 bonuses: Franklin, Silva, Damm, Vinicius pocket $65,000 in Brazil

Great to see fans come in droves early on in the prelims. I swear I think the Brazillians are the only ones who come out early.

UFC 147 draws a reported 16,643 attendance

Gate – TBA
Attendance – 16,643
Fight of the Night – Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva
Knockout of the Night – Marcos Vinicius Vina
Submission of the Night – Rodrigo Damm
Winners received $65,000 each

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil – Rich Franklin, Wanderlei Silva, Rodrigo Damm and Marcos "Vina" Vinicius on Saturday won $65,000 bonuses for their performances at UFC 147.

Franklin and Silva shared the "Fight of the Night" award for their five-round main-event, Damm won "Submission of the Night" and Vinicius picked up "Knockout of the Night." UFC officials announced the winners and bonus amounts at the post-event press conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended.

UFC 147 took place at Estadio Jornalista Felipe Drumond in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims that on Facebook and FX.

For Franklin and Silva, it was the second time their main event has picked up "Fight of the Night" honors. Their first fight, at UFC 99 three years ago, also won the award. Franklin won that fight by unanimous decision. And on Saturday, he was able to do it again – but in a five-round war that had him needing to survive a major offensive surge from Silva in the second.

Damm, a featherweight cast member of "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" and a Strikeforce veteran, had little trouble submitting his biggest rival on the show, Anistavio "Gasparzinho" Medeiros. Damm sank in a rear-naked choke against "Gaspar," the "TUF: Brazil" house's resident troublemaker, and forced him to tap just 2:12 into the fight.

And Vinicius, also a featherweight cast member in the "TUF: Brazil" house, mounted a third-round comeback to knock out Wagner "Galeto" Campos in a fight that streamed live on Facebook. A big knee to the body hurt Campos, and from there Vinicius was able to land several big shots against the cage until Campos was dropped.
