He may just loading up for the big right. It's not proper boxing technique, but it definitely adds some power and once fighters get used to that big catch (Machida) they get addicted to that feeling and it reinforces the behavior. I think something similar happened with Koscheck and also Dan henderson.

Good catch.

...Man, this FOX card is absolutely the baddest one so far. Shogun & Vera will be an awesome fight. I think if Shogun rocks Vera with a big right hand, nasty knee or body kick, Shogun will smell the blood, Brandon will get finished. Now look at Vera. He still has great Muay Thai as well. Shogun could very well eat a hard knee or nasty kick from Brandon as well. Great striking match-up. Machida will outclass Bader. Lyoto's TDD is outstanding and his body-locks against the cage are very good too. Lyoto has good wrestling to boot. I see Bader getting picked apart piece by piece, maybe even finished. Machida's kicks are ridiculous, not to mention his wicked straight left. Can't wait for this FOX event!!!!...

Not even sure why this fight is happening to be honest. Shogun is going to steamroll Vera like a cartoon character.

I would die of laughter if Vera caught him. That would be huge karma for Shogun for turning down Glover in favor of fighting Vera. Also the gun stick-up story with Vera has made me a fan.

But realistically, Shogun will easily win.

I would love to see Shogun use more leg kicks like he did in his first Machida fight. That's probably one of his biggest weapons and he hardly used them against Hendo. It is obvious he loves to stand and bang but he needs to look also at what can win fights strategically. Its hard to imagine anyone taking more than 3 or 4 of those.

...I fully agree. Some of those knees and kicks to the body as well. If Shogun gets off with any of that against Vera, Brandon is done...

Everyone's picking Shogun to win easily as if he's been on a tear recently. He hasn't looked that great in awhile. I wouldn't be surprised if Vera pulled a Condit and tried to leg kick his way to a decision. If he did, I don't see how Shogun would stop it. Not saying I'm picking Vera yet, just that Shogun isn't as good as everyone makes him out to be.

Will make predictions for credits. Please, I'm so broke.
