Dang, i had money on Tibau. Don't know how it was 3 30-27's. I expected 30-27's for tibau or maybe a dodgy split for Nurmagomedov.

In my opinion, a takedown defence scores points whereas a failed takedown does not.

They should give points for defending the takedown as well tho. Just bullshit if someones not good enough to take you down and you still lose points for it. Not that i care much about either of them.

I've always thought that too. They seem to give so many points for getting a takedown. Why not give points for defending it.

It's interesting, I think that Tibau is even bigger than Maynard, but his strength hasn't helped him very much. It must be because he's so slow, he has way too much bulk and it effects his speed and cardio which you really can't afford in a fast paced division like 155.

Like i said earlier, in my opinion defending a takedown scores points, whereas a failed takedown attempt does not. Since half the fight was the above, and the other half some dodgy stand up from both, i don't see how Nurmagomedov won. Especially 3 30-27's!

That's kind of like saying strikes shouldn't be counted when they don't injure or result in the KO. Tibau defended well, but he still spent the majority of the fight against the cage, was bloodied, and did NOTHING to threaten his opponent. You can't win that way... had Tibau defended and put up a shred of fight on the feet, I could maybe see what some of you are getting at.

If you spend 13 minutes up against the cage, and are out-struck to boot, you're going to lose. Really not complicated.

Why am i the only shocked by that decision???? Khabib did nothing but try, he landed nothing, didnt get a single takedownn and just got out classed in ever asset of the game.

I get what Joe is saying, but the judges consider failed takedown attempts on the cage a positive thing. Tibau should know this by now, and it is his own fault for fighting so passively. Sometimes a vastly superior fighter loses. It happens.
