That was my first question when I saw this fight. I literally said "Is that the same McKenzie?" But there is 1 way and one way only he has a shot at this fight and that is his hail marry monkey choke.
I see McKenzie coming out with some crazy cartwheel kick and getting crushed

How did he land this fight...must be the Mckenzie-tine or whatever you call it marketing machine. This should be like the Yves fight where he gets outclassed.

I just looked it up. Apparently he won his last fight. I guess it makes sense he's still around now. He won in his UFC debut, lost a decision, lost a submission, and won by submission. They've kept around people with worse records than that. I really hope he's been improving. I like the guy, but if he's relying too heavily on that guillotine, he's not gonna be around for long.

He actually won by submission, lost twice in a row by rear naked choke in the second round, and then won by submission again. His BJJ is average at best without wrestling to back it up. His BJJ only looks good because of his guillotine choke. He seems to gas after intense grappling battles. You know, when opponents are better than falling for a guillotine choke that they know is coming. After that, he actually has to put in effort on the ground. Considering his tools are limited and his conditioning is lacking, it doesn't bold well for him when his opponents have more than the tools to defend themselves.
I'd like to see him improve as well, but that guillotine choke seemed to work for so long against low level fighters, it's almost as if he forgot that in the UFC, most fighters have submission defense. I start to wonder if he abandoned working on the rest of his game heavily because of the success his trade mark move had in the past.

Mendes by decision.
Mckenzie has nothing for him except for that guillotine, which I expect Mendes to be smart enough to avoid..

Would not be surprised if Mendes keeps the fight standing. He would demolish McKenzie standing pretty easily.

TBH, i'd expect all of his recent victims to be smart enough to avoid it. Cody is still way over his head, Mendes via domination.

McKenzie has a 6 inch height advantage and an 8 inch reach advantage.
This'll be like Jon Bones Jones vs Rampage.
Oh, wait.
It won't?

Don't care for Mendes. But he should take this easily.
He could keep it standing and win.
He could take him down and finish with GnP.
Cody is very subable, Mendes could get his back and get a rear naked.
Mendes could take him down and stay out of the Guillotine. Cody spent time at Alpha Male and they know all about Guillotines.
No clue how aggressive Mendes wants to be. If I were him I would try to look impressive vs. such as sub par opponent and get a finish and a little attention.

The only way McKenzie could look more like a Glasweigon crackhead would be if he had ginger hair.
