Lolz...sums it up best. I wonder if Dong wants to try his judo against a BJJ expert. He's probably going to play keep away for all three rounds. I want Maia to take this though and make a deep run into the WW division.

Kim will easily win, Maia is garbage IMO. He's completely one-dimensional and looked awful in his WW debut.

People can say what they want about Maia, but Dong Hyun Kim is no better. He barely beat Brown, basically lost a decision to an out of prime Parisyan, won a decision against Sadollah (not a good win), won a decision against a very undersized Nate Diaz, and got swept easily and decisively out classed by Condit. His other wins are over low level fighters, and his latest win was another decision against Sean Pierson who isn't very good at the moment himself.

I'm not saying Kim shouldn't be the favorite here, this is Maia's first fight at welterweight and he will probably gas, but I'd say they are about on the same level. I wouldn't be surprised if Maia beat him. Kim had nothing for Condit on the ground, and even got swept right into mount when he decided to take it there. If he decides to use his judo against Maia, the same story could happen. On the feet, he might have the advantage, but not a very significant one. Maia continues to try and improve his stand up because he knows it's a weak part of his game. Who knows how it will look once fight night arrives if Kim decides to sprawl, stick, and move.

Top 3 Favorite Fighters
1. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell
2. Glover Teixeira
3. Demian Maia

I understand where you're coming from but when you're talking about the DHK vs Nate Diaz fight, there's a lot to it more than "DHK winning by decision against undersized Diaz." Nate Diaz has such a crafty grappling defense that is not to be underestimated with. I admit, DHK's striking isn't the best but he can only improve. He's not going to go toe-to-toe with Nate Diaz, who has one of the better/crispier boxing in the division. DHK's advantage was on the ground and he still got some nice punches in. But most of the fight, they were just talking smack to each other.
---
I hope DHK wins. I don't know much about Maia so I'll reserve judgment. I just love Judo and DHK is pretty serious at it.

I agree with everything you wrote, I don't only think they are on the same level, I think Maia in terms of skill is better than DHK. The striking is about the same. Sure DHKs Judo/wrestling is a little better but not by that much IMO. And on the ground Maia is obviously better, maybe not by a crazy amount but the gap is still bigger than the wrestling gap in favour of Kim.

The only reason I see DHK winning is Maias cardio and the fact that it should be even worse at WW, where IMO Maia is way oversized.
