The bjj gi/honor the nogs submission theory is ridiculous. He won by submission and that's all.
Ridiculous eh??? How many other UFC fights has Anderson walked to the Octagon wearing a Gi???

I could see it, Anderson loves to showboat after all. He let his hands drop already in the first round and just let Sonnen wail on him. I dunno if it was his plan to wait that long for a submission attempt, but I really think he thought very little of Sonnen and let him have his way at the start. But that Triangle was soo close I dont think Silva wants to try that again. I think somewhere after the 1st Silva realized that Sonnen is tougher to handle than he first thought.

Of course he *wanted* to sub Cheal. That much is obvious. But to suggest he had a very specific gameplan to submit him? Ridiculous.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again... When they we're standing, Silva was trying to knock Sonnen the f*uck out. He was throwing strikes with bad intentions. He wasn't clinching and pulling guard. He was keeping distance and trying to attack. If his TDD looked a little off, I'm inclined to believe it had more to do with fecked ribs then anything else.

Having said all that, there's a big part of me that wants it to be true! That Silva very deliberately let himself get taken down so he could look to submit Cheal. As absurd as it sounds. But I will never know the truth. Only Silva knows. For now, I'm going to assume it's bollocks.

It's pretty obvious Anderson wanted to win the 1st fight by submission or lose trying.
Walking in with a gi and the fact Nog's basically allowed him to have the kind of living he and his family enjoy nowadays, tells me that Anderson didn't really wanted to do it any other way.

Let's just put all debate on Sonnen Vs Silva one on hold, and get back to it July 8th. Everything will be answer by then.

Sammy Noodleman has a little shameless behaviour in the past
That was my biggest fear...

if you recall, prior to that fight, Dana was really upset with Silva. He was even threatening to cut him for his clowning. Is Silva that good that he let Chael pound on him, and simply submitted him when he had too?

This covers it pretty well, and like the above poster said, 4 more days.

No doubt Silva wanted to be on his back. The gi plus easily giving up multiple takedowns and a reversal should have made it obvious.

Didn't read, but no. Anderson was trying to stay up and he just couldn't. He was looking for a submission because he was the ability to and Chael has weak defence to it, but he'd have much prefered to be on his feet for the whole fight than on his back.
