This is my take on the whole thing.
I think Silva had a plan to submit him.
As documented in his movie that he was injured with an rib injury. I am not sure why he would choose to rolls for a submission if his ribs were hurting. From the evident of the fight, I think he was 'lucky' to pull it off in such short time left into losing his belt.
Sonnen had everything to prove and nothing to lose. That's why we saw all Chael in the last fight. I am doubtful he will have the same game plan or be successful with the last one as it is studied by Black House.
Now.. here are a few things to ask yourself.
Why is Silva dodging Sonnen for sometimes like refusal to fight due to being disrespectful and so on? I am sure I have seen other opponents of his said before that they would knock him out and so on.
Yea, so Sonnen crossed the line here and there but Silva should know this is the fight game and people talk a lot of crap. Hell, look at Mayweather fights it gets to those lines with the neck grabbing, trash talking, mothers name-calling, black on black drama or so on.
But as a fighter, if you're that pissed off and so on. Don't you wanna send a big time statement if you talk crap about me, my family, my country or anybody. This is the end results.
Honestly, I think Silva is seeing a threat or something in Sonnen that is greater than him or can probably pin him down or whatever. There is more to this than just the insults because I think Silva is scared of something or so on.
What I do know that Sonnen has good hands not knockout power kind but his ground and pound is good but not damaging as we saw in the fight. Silva seems to take them like nothing.
If Silva planning to do what he said he gonna do then its pretty much gonna be a short fight if he has his way.
I think if Sonnen throws Silva off his striking game in the first round, this could be an interesting fight.
If Sonnen shows up with the same game plan, this fight will be over in minutes.
But in the end, Sonnen is a true believer in himself and won't ever admits that Silva was the better man and all the Brazilians insults and whatever bridges he burned with those fans and Brazil itself. Too much pride to swallow.
As for Silva, if he win. Only Jones would be his best option but I think he will retire because he has no real threats in his division or either division below or above.
