And I was speaking generally.. You can't argue that Ortiz and Liddell aren't more well known than Silva.
Definitely can't. I remember a coworker at an old job knew I was into MMA. He came up to me and said "Dude! I just got the coolest Chuck Liddell shirt! I'll wear it this friday!"

"That's cool. Are you catching the fights this Saturday? Anderson Silva and BJ Penn on the same card!"

"Uhh... I don't follow boxing..."

Really put MMA popularity in perspective for me.

WOW is that's true. In Germany and France it's still rather a niche. In Germany, since some federal court forbit its broadcasting on a sports channel, MMA basically gets no mass media coverage at all, while boxing is regularly shown on the main TV stations.

I don't know, for the US you're probably right, but outside the US I'm not so sure. Silva has a Nike and a Burger King sponsoring deal, I guess that says something about his degree of popularity.

Dont bring Cooper into this.

I did look at it again. I was talking about his patetic attempt at deflection at 25 when he had Anderson in his face.

The one you're talking about was after the danger had passed and Sonnen managed to relax his anus a bit.

because he is so clearly afraid to be hit by silva.

How could this unfortunate turn of events have happened to poor hapless sonnen?

His great fear come to pass no matter how hard he tried to avoid it.

it's like he just didn't know what could happen ....
