Silva, Sonnen and the clash of styles

Brett Okamoto seems to think he needs to calm down. I believe his quote was, "if Anderson calms down he'll be fine." I personally think he's playing it wrong, but what the heck do I know about professional fighting? But just from my limited perspective, while Chael is calling Anderson a bully, Anderson answers by threatening to knock all his teeth out. I mean I don't know, just seems he should have taken the high road and kept his composure, kinda of like Jones did in the pre fight with Rashad.

But maybe that's something Chael noticed about this guy. His ego just can't take trash talk. Maybe he did see something there he could exploit.

If I were to guess, I'd say this plays to Chael. Then again, the angry Anderson scares the crap out of me.

If he's talking about breaking every bone in Sonnen's body, well you're not gonna do that with one punch or kick, if Anderson truly wants to do what he says he wants he's gonna do it systematical or he'll bumrush Chael in a tornado of violence.

I'm curious to see who this effects him he usually gauges timing and movement then strikes, throw into the fact this is the longest layoff of his career and he's probably gonna wanna cave Chael's face in no doubt he'll be working to get back up this time. He might not get it though and could gas.

He's never done it before but with being older the cut gets harder, the layoff, the emotion's he's bringing into this one he's probably best off staying composed.

I don't think Anderson is angry (or scared or anything else). Even he must have realized by now that Chael's doing this to sell this fight. Chael helped Anderson become a big star with all the advertisement contracts that he has now and whatnot that followed their first bout. If anything I think Anderson welcomes the trash talk, the money that comes with it and just plays along with it.

These guys aren't idiots.

I doubt itl have an impact on the fight. Anderson Silva fights for a living and knows how to go about that very well. He isnt going to be stupid in the fight because Chael made some comments. Our P4P best isnt that weak in the mind. He was just trying to scare chael and get in his head a bit.

I think the whole point was to wait just until before the fight for AS to bring things up another notch. If he does it too soon then we get tired of the talk a la Jones/Evans. It is timed so perfectly to peak during the fight.

I have no doubt Silva believes what Sonnen says during interviews is disrespectful and perhaps even inappropriate for the sport.

Does he take it personal though? Not likely. This isn't his first rodeo.

He's hyping a fight and doing it like a boss.

Thats actually quite true, i mean Anderson has been the best fighter in the world for going on 5 years now but it wasn't till this rivalry started that he really started to become famous and make big money. Chael actually deserves a lot of credit for that.
