3 things favoring Silva tonight

1) Silva had a much easier cut.
Chael had to lose 20 lbs. yesterday he was saying. That gives the impression he may not be as quick. Anderson weighed in at 184. He's definitely ready.

2) Silva is injury free.
It's widely corroborated that Anderson has a very soar rib and his doctor advised him not to fight. I don't buy the broken rib part, but several of his trainers urged him not to fight. I think it's safe to say, that made a difference.

3) Silva's recent performances show him to be in top form.
Previous fights show Anderson on a upswing in performance, while Chael struggled in his last bout.

Not saying it's a sure thing, but Chael may have dropped the ball on his training. Now he is no stranger to cutting, but I'm not sure he's been this big before. The may be a result of him working the slow twitch wrestling muscles, but I think he would have rather come in lighter and quicker.

As far as the rib issue, let's face it, if the rib was really that bad, there's no way he would have fought. But it is conceivable that the injury slowed him down a bit.

And as far as Bisbing goes, I frankly think he a very good fighter, and no slouch. Style wise, he's a terrible matchup for Sonnen, with great escape skills and TDD. He's also a very good striker against certain styles. ANd I do think Bisbing would give Silva a very good fight, certainly better than his last two opponents.

Bottom line, though, the stars seem to be aligned for Silva.

Being a neuatral, i can honestly say i don't think anybody has anything to offer Anderson Silva when he is at his pinacle.

However, styles make fights and wrestling a decision from Anderson Silva might be the best (or only?) way to beat him. I can't wait for this fight.

1) Sonnen is a wrestler and has been cutting weight at a very young age. Don't really know why people have been saying he had a tough weight cut, it was planned for him to cut 20 pounds in a 24hour period. You don't eat coconut crusted chicken on a Thursday when have trouble making weight for the Friday.

2) Silva wasn't that badly injured to begin with, not saying his ribs didn't hurt, but if he had a severe rib injury which many seem to point out, there is no way the commission would let him fight.

3) recent performance, I can see this being a point, as Silva destroyed both Vitor/Okami. Bisping is however very underrated and he has some very good TDD.

There's a saying styles make fights.

Okami and Vitor were tailor made for Anderson, and Stann was tailor made for Chael. Vitor has frozen in the past and Okami is one of the more mentally weak guys in the sport. Okami had no chance in hell of beating Anderson in Brazil. Stann has some hellacious power in his hands but his ground game simply wasn't up to par with Chael's.

Chael's style is unlike Vitor and Okami's, we see this in the first Silva/Sonnen fight, Chael's ruthless and will come right at Anderson and will take no backwards steps or freeze in front of him. That could give Anderson problems, it could also hurt Chael leaving him open for counters and what not.

As for Silva's injury, he was clearly hurt but a broken rib? No way him or anyone else is stepping into a cage fight with a broken rib. People bring up the TRT and the broken rib and rightfully so, but on an even playing field Chael isn't exactly the ideal style match up for Anderson, Anderson can still win in many ways but he's not going to cruise like he did against Okami or any of the other guys he's fought.

I can't dispute any of this. I don't know squat about cutting. 20 pounds seems excessive, but if it was the plan, I suppose it's not. I also agree Bisbing is a much better opponent than Okomi and a much more difficult matchup.

If Sonnen is in top form, then his keys are pressure and turn this into a ground brawl. I think he also has to establish early that he can stand with Silva for limited periods of time. If he can hang on the feet and get takedowns, it's his fight to lose.

Silva's keys are obviously TDD, and escaping on the ground or subs off his back.

The reason this fight is so fascinating, contrary to popular belief, has nothing to do with the trash talk, or the apparent hate between these two.

It's simply because this fight only ends in two fashions and we all know it. Anderson Silva is the most decorated champion if UFC history, PERIOD. I don't care if you love or hate the guy, that is a fact. However he is going into a fight that he HAS TO WIN.

What I mean that is incredibly simple. Chael has to survive for 25 minutes, that's a fact. If it comes down to the judges, the way they favor top position and wrestling styling, Chael wins this fight 100% of the time! However Anderson is one of the best finishing in MMA history, and he can finish Chael in about a 100 different ways.

And so, we have a coin toss of a fight. If it ends before 25 minutes, Anderson retains. If it goes the distance, Chael is the new champ. I honestly cannot see another outcome.

If its 3 or even 1? Anderson Silva tonight will get his hands raised with the "W".

I really hope this time with a new style that he got from SS :D

Sonnen's cut looked very un-healthy and might be a nightmare tonight for him. He looks very very thing, too thin.

Again I'm no expert on cutting, but draining 20 pounds of water from yourself in one day seems crazy. How quickly can the body recover from that? I just don't see how it was actually the plan to come in 20 pounds heavy the day before he fight.

This fight like many rematches before it will be a duplicate of the first!
Sonnen will again take him down at will.
Sonnen might last that extra 2 minutes for the decision but Anderson will probably submit him again.

As for the surprise factor in the first fight-that was over after rd 1.
