Forrest stated clearly that he was already on his way back to the cage.

Do you have one where Forrest states Dana had to catch up to him and send him back? If so then you are correct, however, I remember coming from Forrest's mouth that he was already on his way back to the cage before Dana actually got to him.

edit - found a video of Forrest saying so - http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/news...k-in-the-cage/

I remember Danas post fight interview with Ariel Helwani and Ariel told Dana....

"Forrest said that you brought him back to the cage, what did you say to him"

That can be argued from both sides now that i think about it.. either way.. imo at this level of competition an athlete is expected to conduct himself accordingly, not throw a temper tantrum because he is dissapointed in his performance..

My armchair diagnosis is that Forrest suffers from moderate to severe depression and needs help otherwise bad things might happen to him.

This. I thought Forrest lost, Forrest probably thought he lost too and ran off in embarrassment to look for a closet to "retire from life".

Forrest clearly stated he was on his way back, it doesn't matter what Dana or Ariel said.

As for leaving the cage in general, the UFC are the ones who made a big deal out of it, not Forrest. He left for a few seconds and was heading back, nobody would even care or notice had the UFC themselves not made a big deal out of it.

It's not against the rules to step outside the cage for a little bit to clear your mind or whatever before you are needed, this whole thing is getting blown out of proportion by Dana/UFC/media/some fans.

Or maybe Forrest is taking heat because of the fact that he has ran out of the cage after past performances.

And it does matter what Dana says. Ask anybody on the UFC roster.

Actually, it doesn't matter what Dana says. Forrest said he was already on his way back, and Dana (who isn't Forrest and has no idea what Forrest was doing) says.. well, he actually never said Forrest wasn't on his way back, he just says he told him to get in the cage (which Forrest already was doing).

When it's against the rules and disturbs the flow of things (this didn't, he was back in time for everything on his own), let me know, then I'll say Forrest was wrong for what he did, until then - extremely overblown situation.

Thats where you're wrong.. like it or not the way Dana wants to perceive a situation has a huge effect on the outcome. Period.

That being said.. I said earlier that I can see how it can be argued from both sides.. my standpoint on it, is it was unprofessional.
